What is a greve feud. Something swedish?

"Grevens Fejde" or in English: "Count's Feud" (or something like that) was one of the few civil wars in Danish history (1534-36), and a confusing mess of a religious war, a trading war and a war for the Danish throne.

The war was triggered by an trading agreement between the Danish Council (the Government of the time) and the Dutch. At the same time the mayors of Copenhagen and Malmø (in Skåne) made an agreement with the Hansa to free king Christian II (currently held captive by the Council), the Hansa obviously did this to counter the Council's decisions.

An army supported by the Hansa (and the mayors) under Christoffer of Oldenburg (aka. "Den Kullede Greve" - hence the name of the conflict)succesfully conquered most of Denmark, before the Council made their move and crowned Christian III as the King of Denmark. He was Lutheran unlike Christian II and the Hansa, and managed to beat the Hansa and Christoffer of Oldenburg, before conquering Copenhagen and Malmø and enforcing the Reformation in Denmark.

The conclusion of the war was that Christian II was definately out of the picture as King of Denmark and the Hansa's power quickly faded.

I hope this isn't too confusing (I can hardly imagine how this would look in EU :) .

oh ok, i think i get it, gosh after this forum im going to be an A+ world history student.

Also, single Hanseatic cities went on in strength even when the Hanse was abolished. For instance, Hamburg (which should be in the Mecklenburg field on the EU map and have it´s harbor to the left) never fell during the 30years war and even allied with the Netherlands. It stayed independent and prospered until, in 1871 it joined the Reich. (Oh, and once before Napoleon annexed it).
And it is my home town and I love it!:D
