Ok, long story short, I started with a fresh install of EU2, then tried adding EU1.06 and AGC 2.3. Followed the directions in the stickied thread, but had a little trouble. AGC.eu never showed up in the scenario file for me to move. Hm, that's odd, so I started with other AGC setup files and then just upgraded to 2.3, still no AGC.eu. Never did get it to work. So I went back to my previous install in another folder where that file was there, followed the directions and everything worked fine until I tried starting the AGC and none of the user defined nations had their new names, they all just came up as "user defined." That in itself is no big deal, but now I'm wondering what else may be missing.

I know I'm probably missing something stupid, so I won't feel insulted if you suggest I do something very simple and obvious to fix the problem. Thanks.

Hm, well, that didn't tell me anything about "user defined" titled nations or where my the "alternative grand campaign.eug" file went, which were my main two questions there. In fact, 2.3 and 1.06 worked just fine together, even with a 1.05 save game, all in my previous install.

Thanks, though ;)

lol, ok, I'll try again. Reading my own post again, I'm not entirely sure what I did either, lol.

Ok, it was two different things I did.

First thing, I wanted to try 1.06 with 2.3. Figuring it'd be better to start with a fresh install, I started over in a new folder, upgraded to 1.06 and then unpacked 2.3 into that folder. I then went back to try the instructions in the above mentioned post. I had a problem, though. The "alternative grand campaign.eug" file was not in the original scenario folder, so I couldn't move it into the AGC scenario folder. I followed the rest of the steps ok, but couldn't find that one file. Starting up the game, only the original GC is available, with none of the changes made in the AGC. I tried copying the "alternative grand campaign.eug" from my other install into the fresh install folder and it then came up in the scenario list upon start-up, but had all sorts of errors when I tried starting the AGC.

Not sure what to do, I went ahead and installed 1.06 and 2.3 in my previously 1.05/2.2 install. I followed the direction in that post with no problems. Starting up the game, I was able to load up a 1.05 save and play with no problems (although the auto save seems to have crapped out, but not sure if that's related). However, when starting the AGC, all the previously named AGC added countries (Morea, Holland, etc) have all reverted to the name "user defined".

Does that clear things up any?

Aha!

2.3 is a bugfix for 2.0. You need to install the beta 2 installer THEN install the 2.3 bugfix.

The bugfix only contains fixes for bugs in 2.0 - 2.2

Also, did you run it through the moddir? (through the AGC shortcut, not the main EU2 one)

:) I got it to work, thanks. And it's running fine with 2.3 and 1.06. CTD after a couple hours, maybe, but that's nothing to get my panties in a bunch over.

Now, which AGC version will include Roman Empire leaders...? And why do Guistiani (or however you spell that) and Konstantine both still die in May 1453, even if you've conquered half the world? Ah, but those are questions for another thread, I'm sure.
