Help, confused with patch and version ...

Hi all,

i'm a newbie .. i just bought and installed Victoria. upon installing i found out that my victoria is actually "modified" asian version (the one sold in hongkong / singapore, published by typhoongames), with more chinese flavour and music and also different .exe name.. (empire.exe instead of victoria.exe). Has anyone bought that version before ?

it was already patched to 1.03 upon installation out of the box. Now i just found out that the latest patch is 1.03b... and upon opening, it actually meant to overwrite victoria.exe. Can it work with my "Asian" Victoria ? since the exe name that i have is empire.exe ?

then to VIP. i want to install the VIP, but then, will it work with my unique version ?

Welcome to the forums, bluelavender!

Not being familiar with your version, my only suggestion (till someone comes along with a better one) is to install it and test; first the official 1.03b. You should see pretty quickly if it doesn't work.

Then if that works, you can try installing VIP 0.3. If the official 1.03b doesn't work, try installing VIP 0.2.

will try to do that... but how about the different exe name ? does it mean, that i play using the victoria.exe after patching instead of the usual empire.exe ?

Yes, so the link in your start menu might not work properly; double-clicking the exe itself should launch it, tho.

Someone knowing more than me will probably come along with some better advice, so this is just to get you started

My recomendation is to NOT install 1.03B.
Typhoon does it's own patching and as 1.03B is still a beta patch, Typhoon will not release until 1.04.

Is there any harm in trying? Worst case, installation gets mangled and he has to install from scratch again; best case, he gets to enjoy the newest and best Paradox has to offer Victorian players.
