I need help with adding certain clothing and other portrait features through traits.

I'm creating a new mod that adds flavour to the reformed Norse faith, including new monastic orders, holy orders and societies, amongst other things. Like others, I've found the reformed faith to be a little lacking in colour in comparison with playing as a Christian ruler. I'm looking to release a beta some time in the next couple of weeks.

The monastic orders are like the Christian monks and nuns. I've implemented a decision where the Fylkir can establish the monastic orders at the cost of significant gold and piety. After this, you can take a targeted decision (diplomatic action) to order unmarried non-primary-heir courtiers to join either the Oathsmen (warrior monks) or the Sisters of Frigg (sorceress/soothsayer nuns). They train for 2 years then return to your court with improved stats. Like monks and nuns, this status is conferred by new traits (which also ensure they are celibate and cannot inherit).

I want the Oathsmen to wear fur-lined hoods and a skull faceplate (in my lore they complete their trials by sacrificing an infidel and taking his/her skull as a faceplate - cool eh?), and the Sisters to wear a black hood and lace veil. I can nab these from the masks used by disfigured characters and a Muslim veil.

My problem is I can't find in the vanilla files how the monk and nun traits change the clothes and headgear etc. of their characters. I've also looked at another couple of mods I use like Better Looking Garbs by Nendur (shout out to a fantastic mod) and try as I might I just can't get my head around it.

Please could some kind experienced modder take me through step-by-step how to do this?

Did you ever figure out how to do this?
