...I bought Eu:Rome Gold for my friend on Steam. After much digging I found out the checksums are different for both versions because
of steam. How can I solve this and play with my friend. He can't install mods, always gives him an error (Application Load Error 5:0000065434)

Thank you

the correct checksums are in the sticky thread above. Whoever has the wrong one will need to do a full clean reinstall.

Nevermind, but thank you. After digging through god knows how many threads. Steam versions have automatically different checksums. We both installed them clean 4 times lol. Crazy night. But it was only after I got me the steam version our versions matched. And after that as luck would have it, found a tiny post deep in the steam forums with the same thing. EU:Rome steam has a different checksum

Ok, I can't edit my last post, so I am sorry for the double post. The info about the steam and retail versions wasn't in a steam forum it was actually you now that I checked my bookmark. Andrew T

Well yes, that's just what I was saying. Steam add a wrapper around romegame.exe to enforce their copy protection and that changes the checksum.

But that will still stop Steam and non-Steam users from playing in the same game, as I understand it.
