HELP !! Stuck at Dniepr River

First off I would like to say thanks to all the helpful people out there. You guys have been great in making this game a total hit !!
however I am so frustrated right now I could puke !! Thing is I am Germany and have been at war with the Soviets now for a good 5 years. I've got the entire West side of the Dniepr river covered by all kinds of armoured and Infranry units and to the East of the Dniepr the soviets have it covered with dozens of units in each province as well.
For the life of me I just can't break through beyond the Dniepr!! I try to send my airforce in ( which consists of 18 divisions ) to scatter their org. before I rush in but that does me know good, they just keep pushing me back.
Can someone please offer me some sort of direction on an effective way to break the line. I've resorted to the manual but it can;t help me like I wish it could.
I'm kinda new at this game so this might sound like a silly question but I'm sick of fighting at the Dniepr month after month.

Use engineers and armour and concetrate on a province that you can attack from multiple provinces. I'm not sure about the air penalty but to prevent massive stacks of bombers I think that if you go past either 12 or 24 (don't remember which) there is a considerable penalty to your planes.

If you have been fighting the Red Army for 5 years and have not broken out, call it quits. Either by just quitting the game and starting a new game or by pulling back to set up a large scale trap.

If you do the pullback, start by analyzing the map to see where a large scale trap might work. Your goal would be to lure lots of Red Army units into a area that you can encircle so that you can trap and eliminate/kill them. Have some very large mobile forces ready for this counterattack that can move quickly to get over any rivers and exploit any openings.
