Hey Grudge,
We feel your pain!
We know this story and as many know, the folks we play with only use version 1.08 in North America. I will happily forward to you a 1.08 patch if you want to send me your e mail.
We also use the IGC 2.1 but as Stefan alludes to directly above, you have to have the exact same versions and the de-install and re-installation should be done as follows:
1) If you have 1.09, or any version with the IGC, you need to completely uninstall EU. Use the general uninstaller that comes with EU (if it will work... there are some systems that it will work on after the 1.09 patch, but most seem to have difficulty with it thanks to stupid SafeDisc, so you will have to use Window's Control Panel de-installer). There may be a few folders and so forth hanging about which you should weed out before you go to install your new version, though again, on some systems all the files and folders will be completely removed.
2) Reinstall from disc the "virgin" 107c that is the out-of-the-box NA version.
3) Install the 1.08 patch in your EU folder, and run the patch.
4) Add the IGC if you choose.
If you only have a "virgin" 107c installed now, you can skip steps one and two, but it is important to understand that the IGC imposed over the regular game will make adding patches later useless; you have to uninstall an IGC/EU version completely (or alternatively put it in a seperate folder elsewhere and start a segregated and new folder for your "new" version) before adding later version Paradox patches.
It should also be noted that regular scenarios will not run correctly if you have added the IGC, further, if you have different version patches and/or IGC versions now, your old savegames from other versions will not work properly and will lead to crasharamas!
Finally, we have found that 1.08 works fairly well. Not perfectly, simply better than any other version to date. We also find that the IGC does not seem to add any undue instability to MP play with 1.08, although there are occassional weirdnesses (see the comments by White Hojo elsewhere in this MP Forum on some of our experiments) that may stem from 1.08 working with 2.1.
If you ARE going to play with the IGC, [COLOR] remember that for the start of the game, you should have all your players have the IGC config editor set to the exact same settings. Failure to do so leads to Bizarro Pizarro repercussions that end invariably with unrecoverably crashed games where some people will see things that pertain to their last settings that have nothing to do with what YOU may be seeing and the like... This precaution is NOT required when you are loading savegames since the config is included in the savegame file, and the current settings of the various players' ICG config editors are irrelevant.
Good luck, and hope to get your e mail should you still be in need of 1.08. Mine is jabberwk@aol.com, or jabberwk@hotmail.com .
