Hello, Gang:

Good afternoon from Canada! I hope this finds you and yours well. As for me, I really can't complain.

I come today with two questions. During my games today, I've entered into two royal marriages and a 'white' peace with Sweden. I've no idea what that is. My questions are: 1) How do I propose a royal marriage and 2) How do I conquer somebody?

For those of you who have written me before, you know where to find me. If you don't, I'm at jhamilton@isp.on.ca.

White peace is a status quo peace. Marriages give you a stability hit if you make war, but a diplomacy boost. In the diplomacy screen, you can make war and peace happen. At least you can TRY to make war and peace happen.

e.g. Swenden declares war on you, you offer peace immediately and Sweden accepts.

Thought I should mention, this is a bug and will be removed in 1.08.

I've entered into two royal marriages

What !!, you bigamist you ;)

1) How do I propose a royal marriage

Go to the diplomatic screen (or right click a foreign country & choose send diplomat).
Here you will find the option to send an offer for a RM to another country. It usually is accepted unless your relation is below -150 or between +20 & -20.

2) How do I conquer somebody?

If you in a war take controll over every enemy owned province and he has no troops in your land, you will get the option to annex the whole country if you offer a peace.

Huszics,

It appears that even if you own an entire country, they are not required to accept annexation. I held Savoy for about 5 years, offered annexation twice a year or so during the war, and they never accepted. I eventually ended up taking only Nice.

JScott, if they still have allies in the war then they may hold out in the hope of being saved. If you can get rid of the others then they normally give in. Then again, there are always the occasional maniacs that refuse whatever the circumstances.
