This game was played with EU 1, IGC 2.3. I have no other goals in the game then making the Golden horde one of the 3 top nations (victory points) when the game ends in 1792 , and of course, having fun while playing and writing this AAR.

1492-1516

In the year 1492 the spirit of our great ancestor, Gengis Khan spoke to our Khan. He told him to restore the greatness of the mongol people and make them feel pride again beeing mongol.

As the people had no faith in them self, stability was low. The Khan gave, raising the stability top priority. The khanate had however about 50.000 men, armed, lethal and ready to strike down on our enemis on the command of the Khan. In 1493 we formed an alliance with the khanate of Astrakhan. Next year our neighbours in Kazan was attacked by the russians. Our Khan saw an oppertunity and took it. We declared war against Kazan. As our forces swarmed cross the borders, moving faster than the russians, it didnt take long until we had the whole country in our hands. Kazan was annexed in May 1495. We had won our first victory.

In the year 1512 we where able to persuade Sibir to join our alliance. When we the next year traded maps with them we found out of a muslim nation living south of Sibir, Uzbekistan. The next year we felt that we where ready to strike against Russia. Our Khan new that Russia, if not defeated, would be a greate danger to us in the future. Our allies, Astrakhan and Sibir, honored their words and helped us. Our attack was well planned. We hit them at the same time they where involved in a war with Poland. In July 1514 we took their capital, Moscow. In the palace we found maps that revealed most parts of Europe and North-Africa. Next year we finaly had defeated the last russian stronghold and Russia was annexed. Poland did however get Tver.

Hi I.A.!

I started with 50.000 cavalry, so beating Kazan wasnt hard. For Russia I figured out, I would be needing a somewhat stronger army, but infantry was cheap (cost only 4 gold), so I started recruiting so much I could afford with. I was also lucky. Poland had exterminated most of Russias troops, so I just sended my guys in, occupying all provinces so Russia couldnt recruit more troops. After that I just wandered around with my largest army (that had a couple of guns) and took province by province. Occupying his territory I think was the key to the victory. Russia isnt so big this early in the game, so if you wont let him build any troops victory is yours.

HOw did u get the money to form an army big enough to defeat the russians and Kazan.

My guesses:

  • The horde starts with a decent general and a large army (almost too large).
  • Samara is a gold province...
  • Cheap manpower
  • Good alliances. (Astrakhan starts with an almost equally large army, for example).
  • Russia was still small and preoccupied with Poland.
  • This didn't happen overnight. Yoghurt's first post covers 23 years...

Still, I wouldn't be surprised if there were a loan or two in there somewhere. I'm also curious as to whether the gold income is causing inflation...

Hi Morlac :)

Your guesses are correct, but i didnt use any loans. Inflation on the other hand.... you could say that word again. If I remember it right, I would have about 20-30% in inflation when I conqured Russia. What to say, I needed cash and no one wanted to lend me some :D

1516-1547

After the war with Russia, we faced another kind of war, rebellscums. When one rebellforce was defeated two new poped-up. Our forces hit them hard and ruthless. If this wasnt enough our, so called, brothers in the South, khanate of Crimea, declared war against us in February 1517. Our thrustfull allies came to our aid. In a year we had defeated all forces of Crimea and taken all fortress. Crimea was annexed, expect for the province of Kouban, that Sibir got.

As the war with Crimea was over our war with the rebells continued. In 1534 they even where so succesfull that Novgorod declared themself independent. Poland obviusly saw a oppertunity as they declared war on us. This time only Astrakhan helped us against the heathens. What the King of Poland didnt know, was that the Khan himself, for a long time, planned for an invasion of Poland. We had many men in arms and we soon swarmed over the whole eastern part of Poland. The polish king asked for mercy and handed over Vorones and Bogutjar to us. One month after the peace with Poland, the ,so called, Republic of Novgorod was defeated and put back under our ruling.

In 1546 the Khan thought that it was time to learn Poland a lesson. We declared war. Astrakhan joined our side and Prussia and Moldivia joined our enemy. We had for a long time prepared our self for this war and our forces was victorius. The Khan did however get a message that the king of Sweden declared war against us. He didnt waste any time, sending forces to the north, so he granted them a colony far north called Kola. We signed a peace with Poland in 1547 and we was granted another two provinces from the king of Poland.

1547-1592

In October 1553 Sweden declared war. Atrakhan abanded us in this time of need. Poland declared war six month after Sweden. This time we had no allies. The Khan decided to concentrate on Poland. We where soon able to sign a peace with Sweden. The prize was to grant them Karelia. The war with Poland was however succesfull, being able to send all our forces just against one enemy. In November 1554 they offered the provinces of Donetsk and Smolensk and we accept.

After the recent war, the Khan decided to concentrate on internal affairs. He didnt want to be known as an aggressive ruler so he wanted to hold a low profile. Our resources went to recruiting new troops, so we would be able to handle new attacks from our neigbours, and was saved for building manufactures. Soon we where able to found a center of culture in our capital and a brewery in the former russian capital, Moscow.

The time passed by and in 1586 we finaly had aproved our relations with Astrakhan so we where able to create a new alliance with them. In May 1587 we declared war against Poland. It had been a while since the last war so we where looking forward for some actions. Like we use to, we had choosen our moment carefully. Astrakhan joined us and Poland was already occupied in a war against Prussia. In less time than a year we had conquered half the territory of Poland. They begged for mercy, offered us the provinces of Chernigov, Poltava and Krementjug. We accept.

Foreign relations

Sweden – They are meatball lovers and hard to beat, so if we would be attacked by them we will try to buy them off.

Pskov – Small city state. If they dont bother us, we dont bother them.

Poland – We would feel much more secure if they would be crushed.

Moldavia – Lapdog to Poland.

Turkey – We dont trust them. They always want more territory, but they can be good allies against Poland in the future.

Astrakhan – Small state. Usefull as allies, but they do however have a COT that should belong to us. For now allies.

Sibir – If Sibir would be terminated we wouldnt have to worrie about our back anymore. Can however be usefull as allies.

Georgia – Dont want it. Dont want to give the turks a CB on us over some crappy provinces.

Persia – They are heretics and deserve to die. They also have a goldmine that we would love to have. After all, Genghis Khan invaded them, so way shouldnt we do the same in the future.

Uzbekistan – Can maybe be used as allies against Persia in the future.

Military

Have about 200.000 men in arms, mostly infantry and cavalry. Artillery are expensive but usefull in sieges. Our military tech is average.

No naval power what so ever. Our naval tech is as low it can be.

Economy

Gets about 200.000 gold coins each year in income.

Own a goldmine in Samaria.

High inflation, about 40%.

Put all our monthly income into military tech and infrastructure.

Merchants... true warriors doesnt trade. Owns a COT however.

Religion

Sunni – We love them.

Shiites – Kill them at sight.

Orthodox – They work hard and make good servants, so we like them.

Catholic – No catholic cross our borders.

Protestant – Heard of them and have nothing against them.

I love it Yoghurt. One hundred years to acheive what took Russia 150 (I think) :D.

1592-1630

In the year 1598 we decided to declare war against Poland once again. Astrakhan joined us in our rightfull war. As usual we hit them hard and we hit them fast, so in 1599 they offered us Mozyr and Ukraina, witch we accept.

In August 1603 we where able to persuade Uzbekistan to join our alliance. When we somewhat later traded maps with them, most parts of Persia and northern India was revealed.

As we had won some provinces from Poland in recent wars. We faced the problem of rebells along the border area. None of the risings was however so sever that we couldnt handle it. In May 1610 we turned our forces to the east, declaring war against Sibir. We hoped for assistant from Astrakhan, or else we had no way of getting to Sibir. Astrakhan refused to aid us. For this disgracefull act the Khan declared war against them to. As the war was hard and fiercefull, brothers fighting brothers, we where able to take all the provinces of Astrakhan. Sibir on the other hand was a whole other matter. Their troops fought very well and they annihiliated most of our army. We signed a white-peace with Sibir in 1614 and annexed Astrakhan that same year.

The Khan couldnt forget the, what he thought it was, disgracefull defeat against Sibir. We started to recruit even bigger armies as soon the war was over. In November 1620 we was ready to declare war against Sibir once again. It took us two years of warfare and many of our best troops, but finally we had defeated them. Sibir was annexed in October 1622. Our eastern border was secured.

Very intresting........

What are your tech levels? What are your plans for Sweeden? Whats up with Prussia, H-L, Brandenburg, Austria, Turkey and others you may come to contract with.

HOw many provinces does P-L have, and do you plan to annex them? Whats your BB?

by the way very well played.

Hi I.A. and thanks for comments.

I am sorry that I cant give you exact answers on your questions. The thing is that I am already in the year 1740 with this game. Im a bit ahead than my uploads.

I belive that my landtech should be average or higher, as I put almost all my monthly income into that category. My other techs was very low. Infrastructure did I however spend some money on occasionally.

Sweden, I know by experience, is very hard to beat, so Im happy by granting them their core provinces.

P-L, I would love to destroy. They are harder to as they own more provinces than Russia did, but maybe I can use a weaknes in the future.

Rest of Europa, France and the Ottoman empire expanding. Spain is the number 1.

Dont remember BB points, but I tried to keep it low (like that should be possible ;) ).

Hi Robb and thanks for your comments.

Yea, you should trying Crimea out again. I have played a couple of games as the Golden horde before and the only way to be succesfull is to use oppertunities and knock out Russia early in the game Otherwise your deadmeat when they decide to expand. Playing as Crimea should be interresting, then you have the turks to worrie about to.

:)

1630-1661

Just because our eastern borders was secure we didnt rest. New troops is always good to have, so we started recruiting. In 1639 we where able to build a brewery in Astrakhan. Four years later we built another one in Kurgan. We also upgraded our fortress along our borders.

In October 1645 we created an alliance with Uzbekistan. We also send enormous gifts to the Moghul empire. Our payments payd off in 1653, when the Moghul empire joined our alliance. Now we where ready to strike down on Persia. In 1654 we declared war, both Uzbekistan and Moghul empire joined us. Persia was invaded from three directions. The war went well for us and our allies. Persias forces was soon exterminated and in 1657 we took their capital, Isfahan. When we captured their maps, the entire Indian subcontinent was revealed as a far distant nation called Ayuthaya. The same year we captured Isfahan, Uzbekistan signed a peace with Persia, being granted Elbruz and Armenia. We damned the loss of Armenia as we wanted the gold mine for our self, but on the other hand we had got the ability to promote governors this year instead. In 1659 Persia signed a peace with the Moghul empire. We was now alone fighting the heretics, but it didnt matter. Most parts of Persia was already in our hands. Their last stronghold was an huge fortress in the far distant province of Kutch. Persia had probably captured that province from the Moghul empire in a earlier war. We sended most of our troops to that province and as over a hundred cannons broke down the walls our men captured Kutch in May 1661. Persia was annexed. The Shah was beheaded.

We had won our most glorius victory since the annexation of Russia. Now we ruled the steppes in the far north, the deserts of Iraq, the mountain regions of Persia as well as the river region of Indus. As we by annexing Persia had a numerous shiite population we had to change our tolerance to that religion. Otherwise there was almost no rebellrisings. Only in the provinces of Astrakhan and Kurdistan was the population somewhat unhappy with our ruling.

Note: Oman and Hedjaz has the same colour as the Golden horde.

1661-1692

After the war with Persia our Khan decided to slow down our expansion. We recruited and stationed troops in strategical areas, promoted governors, upgraded fortress and builded manufactures. In 1674 we where able to build naval manufacturies, so we did. A decade earlier we had figured out how to discover Terra Incognita, so we sended cavalry units cross the wasteland in the east. In 1680 we reached the far distant China. We had now passed our ancestors homelands and as we did, a moment of experience the time of the great Genghis Khan hit us. We had finally reached our historical homelands.

Sweden – They are meatball lovers and hard to beat, so if we would be attacked by them we will try to buy them off.

Poland – We would feel much more secure if they would be crushed, but they havent bothered us in a long time. Maybe they know when to quit.

Moldavia – Lapdog to Poland.

Turkey – We dont trust them. They always want more territory. They can be good allies against Poland in the future but probably not as they have a CB on us. Who knows, maybe I will pay a visit to the turkish capital some day in the future.

Hedjaz, Aden and Oman – Small states on the Arabic peninsula. Chat with them sometimes but dont really have any interest in them.

Georgia – To insignificant to care about.

Moghul empire – Is an ally. They have a CB on us but if they dont bother us we probably wont bother them.

Uzbekistan – Is an ally, placed in the heart of our empire. They have a CB on us and might have to be exterminated.

China- Ah, the far distant China. Would love to burn their cities down someday.

Military

Have about 500.000 men in arms, mostly infantry and cavalry. Artillery are expensive but usefull in sieges. Our military tech is average.

Have 9 ships, captured from Persia. Our naval tech is low but on the rise.

Economy

Gets about 400.000 gold coins each year in income.

Own a goldmine in Samaria.

Have promoted governors, a lot of governors, so inflation is no more.

Owns three COTs. Our merchants are expanding on the markets.

Sunni – We love them.

Shiites – Have plenty of them, so we tolerate them.

Orthodox – They work hard and make good servants, so we tolerate them.

1692-1744

In 1709 we had an army of 760.000 men, willing to die for the Khan, and we still recruited more. In 1712 we decided to strike again. This time we declared war against Uzbekistan. Just a couple of months after our war decleration against Uzbekistan, Poland declaes as us. We had strong military forces at the border to Poland, but that didnt help. They crushed most of our forces and we quickly decided to pay them an amount of 500.000 gold for peace, witch they accept.

In the war with Uzbekistan our losses was rather huge, mostly due to attrition not battle. We did however conquer province by province. In April 1714 when we almost had defeated Uzbekistan, the government it that country was changed. We keept all provinces that we controlled and the new government keept theirs when a peace was signed. We was rather dissapointed by this as we would rather annex them, but it wasnt our call this time.

Now we faced the fact that we had to rebuild our army, so we did. It was a time of peace and recruiting. In the year 1720 we thought we was ready for another adventure. We declared war against the Moghul empire. The next month Gergia and Uzbekistan declared war against us. We was prepared for this so our forces in the vicinity invaded thoose countries as well. In August 1722 we annexed Uzbekistan and the next month we signed a white-peace with Georgia. The war in India keept going on.

In May we got even more troubles. We had defeated most of the Moghul empire forces and we just keept besieging their fortresses, when all hell broke lose. Poland, France, Portugal, Sweden, Netherlands, Saxony, England, Hedjaz, Oman and Aden declared war against us. We knew that we couldnt defeat them, so we started to identify the leaders of each alliance. It seemed to be Poland, Sweden, Hedjaz and Oman. We started to collect enormous amounts of gold so we would be able to pay them off. In 1724 we defeated the last Moghul stronghold and annexed them. Northern India was now ours. We where also able to pay off our other enemies one by one. It cost us a lot of gold, but it was worth it.

All our investments did now go to increase our landmilitary tech. In 1740 we had recruited a new enormous force of 800.000 warriors. We decided to try the might of the Ottoman empire. If it would be weak it didnt deserve to exist. If it turned out to be strong, we maybe could get a bite of it. Son after our war decleration Georgia and Ethiopia declared war on us. Georgia did we pay off, Ethiopia we conqured the province of Sinai from. Witch they probably had get some time earlier in the game. Also the nations of Oman, Aden and Hedjaz turned against us. We just payd and ignored them. It seemed like the forces of the Ottoman empire was equal to our own in bravery, we on the other hand more men at our disposal, so we slowly pushed the turks backwards. When we reached Egypt we encounter an enormous turkish army there. We sended wave after wave, trying to push the turks out of that province, but we didnt succed. Instead we decided to not send valuable men into an certain death, so we signed a peace, where we was granted Samaria and Syria.
