I see you posting here a lot lately, I’m curious is there some part of you that would like to see imperator worked on?

honestly it’s such a shame because in its final state for me it was quite close to an extremely great paradox game, the map is gorgeous and the way you can interact with culture, pops, the world as a whole feels so dynamic and awesome. I honestly think it’s better than ck3, eu4 or at least had far better bones and more potential, the only reason I don’t play anymore is because of a broken heart, I play and just think about things I wish could get more flavour content etc….

anyway I’m just curious Is there some part of you that feels you have unfinish business with imperator, so to speak. The time period is really amazing and it needs representation in gsg

I wish Imperator would have done better than it would. However, i personally do not think I'll ever work on a new roman game again. I'm turning 50 years old next year, and with development cycles are so long now, I don't know how many games I got left in me..

Quality over quantity. In my trade, when workers get old they become valuable because their experience and their ability to teach the new generation.

Creatively, maybe you do not have many games left but definitively you are an asset. I for one do not want you to retire and you deserve all the recognition and praise for the work done.

Fair enough. But hey regardless how many games you do or don't make in the future, you've definitely left your mark on gsg genre over the years :)

I had never tried Imperator when it came out because my mood at the time was not in ancient era. Recently I was playing Assassins creed Origins and this gave me back some enthusiasm for the ancient era. To try a different genre in same time period I continued with Imperator instead of Rome2 which I normally do.

Imperator has been a really nice discovery so far.

It's very much a nice blend of EU, Vicky and CK. All those different mechanics does mandate some wiki study which I don't mind, it reminds me of a bygone era where you would get a thick manual with your game that I would read constantly when i wasn't playing :).

Unfortunatly for Imperator , I think it was released in a very bad release window. At the time , every one was clamouring for one game and that was Victoria 3. The early version being so much more like EU than Victoria really exacerbated the frustration players had waiting for V3. Had Imperator come after Vicky 3 i think it would been a big success especially now with V3 having lackluster warfare and EU4 getting stale.

This made me wish we had a sad emote.
