I just bought the base variant of the game as it was on steam at a discounted price, though, I realised when I want to start a singlplayer the play button is grey and there is a slect option on the side for a "playset" I have no clue what thats for, I just want to play the freaking game.

Playset refers to a collection of mods (user-written game modifications), which are not relevant to your problem - presumably you have none yet.
I don't know why the PLAY button is greyed out. What launcher version do you see? Current is 2021.10.1

Hey thx for your reply, its 2022.1-rc.2. yeah I thought a playset was required. Yeah dont know either, when I try open it from file explorer it says some file is missing.
Which file are you missing? vcruntime_140.dll? Then the suggestion from this comment by AndrewT should help. You need vc_redist.x64.exe from the first X64 link from the website which he links.
