Hello.
I am a person opposing people who diss on min-maxing.
I'm a fairly casual player. I love designing factions and all of them usually have narrated backstories in my mind. But what I love the most is trying various builds, comparing their efficiency and whining on forums if something is underpowered. I'm not into roleplaying as weak and miserable.
I tend to easily find common ground with people who are strictly min-maxers/difficulty freaks, while purely RP players are usually my archenemies. This is because many of them insist that their way of playing is the only right one and they don't like me whining on forums about the balance.

But seriously, RP isn't something that antithetical to balance and vice versa. One is reinforcing the other if both aren't half-assed. All this back and forth about "but mah RP" or "but balance" is quite frankly silly.
So RP players aren't your enemies, but poorly thought-out and implemented solutions by the devs are.

I agree. The idea that min-maxing and roleplay is some imaginary sliding scale is stupid. I never ever considered them mutually exclusive.
The kind of RP players I was talking about think that balance in a single player game is unimportant as long as it is fun to them. Since balance is unimportant they don't want dev hours to be invested into it and consider all talks about balance unwelcome.
I understand that you're not this type of person, this message wasn't meant for every RP player out there, only specific type of them that I call 'casual' or 'pure' roleplayers for the lack of better term. Aka balance bad, minmaxing bad, game is my sandbox.

Yeah I get that it wasn't directed at me, I just find the usual finger-pointing from both aisles of the community tiresome. Also unproductive, 'cause threads with suggestions be it balance or RP or whatever would potentially achieve more concrete results.
Just from the recent thread about traits I am pretty sure everyone would agree that Adaptation traits need a fix and it isn't an easy one if we are talking about doing it properly. Plus there is a laundry list of other traits that need balance pass even if there is some slight disagreements with a few particular ones.
Now all that said let me tell you about our Lord and Savior Urrath and how you too can become an integral part in building a new tomorrow. A bigger, better tomorrow for you and everyone else.
