Since the 1.5 patch, the political flatmap settings have changed - and with the aesthetic changes for my mod, that is for the worse.

Internal province borders are no clearly visible, while external province borders are clearly visible.

Before 1.5: https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd....124/A464AF3770D2420ED27C7EE5BBCA868351B130C8/

Note the thin black lines between country borders

After 1.5:
Note no lines between country borders, and very clearly visible internal province borders.

I have tried editing some of the values in defines/graphic/00_graphics.txt and in gfx/map/map_modes/map_modes.txt but none seem to affect these two things I am trying to change. Does anyone know how to change this back?

The way I diminished some borders and enhanced others way back was editing the actual border texture files at \\ImperatorRome\game\gfx\map\borders\
Making the border_country.DDS texture more opaque and/or wider may help.

I used GIMP 2.8 to edit the .DDS files, but I'm not sure if a plugin is needed. Also you can edit the other border textures to be more transparent.

EDIT: This SteamCommunity guide has links in the first section to GIMP and the required plugin:
