Ill say firstly If this was a deliberate choice, then guess I am mistaken and i should move this within the territory of the suggestions subforum but it seem like prisoners are eating a LOT by default settings that takes a small amount of time and money to rectify with prison policy bureaucracy and the new policy screen but is also stumping quite a lot of people who are opening their saves and running into financial and administrative ruin of requiring vastly enlarged catering facilities.
For quickstart prisons made mostly out of the pre-built room plans, the default kitchen has a inadequate amount of units to support the new default amount of meals while being financially convenient (2 ovens, 2 freezers, one sink) when a new start up player may be pinched for cash, or simply following the motions of building a new small scale detention centre.
- One kitchen can supply 20 meals per unit (represented by pots of food), catered to by 1 chef. Under the 3 square mealplan only 13 of the 40 meal capacity gets eaten for a quick-place canteen that can sit 40. With two meals per prisoner that is half (20) and still manageable by installing more units into the kitchen and still plenty of space in the canteen.
- The logic for prisoners eating their food is a 'first come first serve', wherin 1 prisoner will grab 3 dishes in the same instance often meaning only fast prisoners are served or those currently on fast floor tiles travelling to the serving table; leaving consistent losers building up aggrovation in the early stages of your prison.
- The expenditure is exaggerated for the usual expected number of meals before a users has a stock of prisoners that is financially viable without the research and policy modification, if the food quality is high this only makes things worse.
- Low quality and amount of food for fiscal reason disenfranchises people to transfer because it creates poorer quality ratings.
Expected Results/Recommended Improvements
- Prisoners could queue for access to reduce the pushing in behaviour when various food allowances are present, taking only their allocated amount unless other behavioural factors are present (supermax/gang members bullying lowmax for instance).
- Low (single portion) is set to default so that new prisons are financially stable, then they can scale it up to however is required. 2 is 'medium', and 3 would be high.
- To recognise the difference between quantity arrangements, varied kitchen plans (current & 'large' kitchen) & varied canteen arrangements (current:40, large:80 & luxury:seating 13) as well as better utilities of kitchen units (in order to increase efficiency of more food pots rather than apply more hands on deck, training prisoners to cook is expendable, but 40 oven stations bleeds money and power resources)
