On the air force tech tree you can choose between Army Air Force or Independant Air Arm. Historically, I know the US and Japan were Army directed air formations and the luftwaffe, RAF, and the Italian Air Force had an independant chain of command. For Gameplay purposes, is Germany supposed to Army directed or Independant? What about the other Major powers? Any thoughts on this would be appriciated.

Germany is Army directed, not independent - conversely, the US Air Force is actually Independent, regardless of the naming at the time.

UK - Independent.
France - Army Directed.
Italy - Army Directed.
Japan - Army Directed.
USSR - Army Directed.

Note that these are the starting positions, and can change stance as the game progresses. But only the RAF & USAAF start out on the Independent Air Arm track from day 1.
