Introduction

Character submissions are closed.

Hello all, inspired by @Zamarak500’s Dragon Kin AAR I have decided to start up my own AAR with reader character submissions. My decision came from mainly two factors; one, it encourages me to stay with this AAR and finish it at all costs hopefully ending the string of unfinished AARs and providing you with a complete story; two, it creates an ensemble cast for the AAR instantly which you guys will hopefully be attached to as your creations.

As for the AAR proper, I will be using the A Game of Thrones mod for CK2 and starting in the year 8005. It will follow the rise of a new dragon rider motivated by Aegon’s conquest. This dragon rider will be starting on the island of Koj in the Summer Isles with the eventual goal of uniting the Free Cities and conquering all of the de jure New Valyrian Empire with the support of the reader-submitted characters.

Now for the character creation. I will have 7 slots available which I understand is a small amount and not a lot of people will be able to participate but it will be easier to keep track of all their descendants which will in turn allow me to flesh out every family including of course the main one. Your character can be either from Westeros (including Wildings), Summer Isles, or one of the Free Cities (Pentos, Braavos, Lys, Qohor, Norvos, Myr, Tyrosh, Lys, Volantis Lorath).

Culture and Religion

If your character is from one of the Free Cities they may choose one of these religions: Trios, Weeping Lady, Valyrian, R’hllor, Bearded Priests, Black Goat of Qohor, Gods of Lorath, Moonsingers. It is preferable if you pick a religion that most corresponds with the city the character is from (their culture) but you are free to make a Trios worshiping Pentoshi.

If your character is from the Summer Islands they will have to be Gods of the Summer Isles.

If your character is from Westeros they may choose one of these religions: Faith of the Seven, Old Gods, Drowned God, Beyond the Wall Old Gods. It is preferable if the character’s faith corresponds with the area where they are from but once again, you are free to choose.

The cultures available for characters that are from Westeros are: Wildling, Skagosi, Hill Clansman, Northman, Crannogman, Riverman, Valeman, Ironborn, Westerman, Clawman, Westerosi Valyrian, Stormlander, Reachaman, Stone/Sand/Salty Dornishman.

The only culture available to characters from the Summer Islands is Summer Islander.

The cultures available for characters that are from the Free Cities are: Pentoshi, Braavosi, Lysene, Qohorik, Norvoshi, Myrish, Tyroshi, Volantene/Essosi Valyrian, Lorathi.

If your character is from Westeros you may choose to have them be related to one of the Westerosi houses in which case the culture chosen for them is the one that corresponds to their house, otherwise just provide a house name and culture for your character. Essossi characters will also require a house name.

Since Essosi characters do not have pleasure of the opportunity being attached to a well-known house, they can be provided with one of these artifacts: Valyrian steel sword, Valyrian Arakh, Valyrian dagger, Dragonbone bracelet/statue/cup/amulet/ring/necklace/whip/bow/axe/sword.

Stats

Each attribute (e.g. intrigue or stewardship) starts at 1, with the ability to spread 20 points between them.

If you are unfamiliar with the lore of the AGOT universe you may visit the Wiki of Ice and Fire. The CK2 wiki is useful to see the effects of traits. And feel free to ask me any questions about the AAR and character creation.

Submissions end in a week, but may end sooner if the seven places are filled beforehand. I eagerly await your submissions.

If you plan on starting in the Summer Islands, and then moving to Essos to forge a Neo Valyrian Empire, what purpose would my character have if I chose to make him a Westerosi? I wonder if him being so detached from the main story of your characters make it harder to incorporate him into the narrative.

I'm thinking we are 'adventurers'. Distant relatives of families or soldiers of fortunes who are seeking their fame or recognition in this man's army. We wont actually be in Westeros but part of this person's kingdom.

At least that is what I took away.

Edit- If I am wrong, then I need to go change my character. LOL

The Badics do not exist at that time. Would you like me to make a custom house with the name Badics or attach the character to the house created by the developers?

Just as Hoveri said, as well as it adds variety and scope to the story. Seeing the culture clashes as well would make the East more dynamic with Westerosi characters wanting to introduce knighthood for example.

I'm not entirely sure about taking a sword from a preexisting family, would you be up for another Valyrian sword with a similar name such as "Legitimacy"? The character will be attached to the Rogare family.

You have about 6 points of attributes that you could spend on the stats, you could keep the stats at the current level if you want.

Could you specify the house name? Is it "hen Tegītsos"?

Thing is I assume the Bearder Priest trait disallows marriage. And I intend for the 7 character’s families to survive past the first generation. I could add in a son or daughter if it doesn’t contradict the character. Will also have to reduce the age as there is a limit of 16-30.
On another subject, love your work.

I actually removed it, as I read the fluff of bearded priests and they are... hum... probably never gonna leave the inner city of Norvos. And yeah I'll make him younger. I actually scrolled down too fast and missed the age range in a haste to actually make a character! xD Sorry man.

And thanks. One of my main motivations when I started I was thinking "Hey, if one person like the character creation, I did a good job", so having an AAR using the same system is fucking insane for me, to be honest!

With Zamarak’s character, the submissions end. Thank you all for contributing! Character backstories will be up on the weekends hopefully along with the prologue.
