Tech trees like MOD34 and lots of new models. I payed 4.99 for armageddon, but the free MoD34 added alot more to Doomsday than Armageddon did. oh well.

I sure hope HOI 3 is around the corner (since Europa Universalis III did) , but they should build base the tech trees on the Mod34 model imho. All that haven't tried mod 34 should do so. It's alot better than the original HOI2:Doomsday

mod 34 has a bit too chaotic tech tree for my liking. it needs to be better organized. and also the "historical year" absence is a drawback for me

I agree its a bit caotic, but HOI3 should be 1280x1024 instead of 1024x768, so that give more room to make it more tidy.

But I liked the RS balance alot better than historical years. But I guess we all have different prefrences. MOD34 gives you alot more room for customizing the nation the way you want it compared to Paradox' way.

I just Love Mod34, alot better than the vanilla game IMHO.

Please no. The only thing good about the mod34 tech trees are the options about what to prioritize in each section. (Though really, those options are only realistic in planes and maybe infantry.)

M34 tech tree is hard to understand at first, but in the next 10 games no problems. Standard techtree is way too simple and narrow-minded!

Also I dont understand how lack of "historical dates" is a drawback. It is all about technology development to outresearch opponent in some field without forcing your hand with "historical dates".

Sorry but M34 is faaar superior in fun & gameplay than any other HOI2 version with hardcoded dates for research.

HOI3 should support ANY popular screen resolution. Even for 24" wide-screen LCDs (one thing straight - I dont have one). And utilize power of modern PCs. Please Paradox stop thinking like Bill Gates "...640KB RAM is enough for everybody...". Thinking for the future thats the key. :)

BTW I expecting thread to be locked like every other regarding HOI3 ;)

It also gives plenty of scope for "Marx Brothers"-like comedy... check my sig.

This thread is indeed off-topic, and I'm moving it to the "Enhancements" Forum.

1st: HOI3 will not be 3D, it's not the paradox way. They are all gameplay and no eye candy, just like sports Interactive (football manager, previously known as Championship manager)

2nd: 10 games? I started a game with Mod34, confused as hell, played from 34-38 and by then I had figured "everything out" out. So I started over and everything was fine. It doesn't take 10 games unless you are really really slow

Damn you Blue emu :p , this thread was ment to put people who usually don't use mods to games to see the light, thats why I put it in DD:main

Er... EU3? Rome?

You're slower than you think.

Um - their three recent games have been 3D - Diplomacy, EU3 and Rome. So saying "it's not the Paradox way" is not entirely true.

I like also the Mod34 tech tree even though it could use some restructuring. The problem might come with AI research plans in complex tech trees. TRP, the best AI mod there is, has very simple tech tree. But I'm all for complex tech trees. :D

Hehe, yeah well. I bet if HOI3 does come out it will be based on the Europa universalis 3 engine (no not rome). Like HOI2 was based on the EU2 engine. They just revamp the same engine for the "new game". saves them money.

EU3 was 3D? I haven't played it, but I have seen several screenshots of it and they were all 2D, the screenies I saw was just a polished EU2 look sort of speak.

LOL, this is 3D?

Yeah well ok, I think not!

they actually look stupidly complicated, come on the game takes about 3 months to understand  :D well took me about 2 months :D

How is that possible? How hard is it to follow a few arrows? It took me a few hours, played from 34-38 then I had the techs in MOD34 all figured out. was confusing at first, but took me like 4 hours to figure it all out!

I've tried to play vanilla after MOD34, but it just make me yawn!

It's a isometric pseudo 3D, not real 3D at all.

But my original point still stands, Paradox is about gameplay not eye candy

I've played, it is definitely 100% 3D. And Rome uses the EU3 engine.

It will be 3d

While EU 3 was 3d it did not differ much in look from EU2. EU Rome has extended the 3d look with full rotate and zoom but when all is said and done, an army marching from one province to another province looks exactly the same. No matter the angle you look from. :p
