HOI III - The 'wave' pattern on minimap

Wondering about a small detail in HOI III- does anyone know the file name of the wave-looking pattern that passes over the world in the minimap? I'd rather just remove the file and have the plain old minimap there. Or would that crash the game? Bought it from GOG (I own the DLC collection) if that helps any. I believe I'm playing vanilla, but it has the newer map. Thanks much.

Are you talking about the day-night cycle overlay?

I don't know the file name of the pattern, but it's normally called "night". The overlay is very useful for scheduling air attacks during daylight hours when they're far more effective, as well as for naval spotting purposes.
