Ok, I like playing HOI. I needed to uninstall it and I reinstalled it successfully. Now, I turn it on, video comes on, if I press escape and dont watch it or if I do, it does the same thing. It starts loading, and when it gets to the last park, intililizing globals or something, it freezes. What should I do? I have Win 98. And can you tell me where I can find my system info on my computer?

I figured something out.

This message pops up, it doesnt freeze fully but its hard as hell to get HOI to minimize.

---- Palette 'gfx\T-PANZER C GER L-4bmp' not found! ---
Do you still want to continue?

Abort Retry Ignore

If I press Ignore it usually work,s but in the game it will freeze. Same thing when I open the HOI editor.

Do you have any mods install?

Possibly relevant: that file was not in version 1.00. I think it was added in 1.02. What version are you running?

Sorry.

I'm running 1.00. I can install 1.04.

I dont think Ihave any mods running.

1.00 is no longer supported, since 1.05B is out.
Why can you not upgrade to the latest patch?

Fixes a lot more than just this.

It works fine now. But why does my HOI suddenly turn off for no reason when I try to play my custom scenarios?

I moved your other thread to the Scenario forum, they would be better at answering editing questions.

I've got that same problem too, though mine likes to hard-lock the system. Occasionally I get an "out of scan range" message on the monitor

I'm using 1.05b and my drivers are all updated. I tried re-installing and it still continues. The problem started this past month and for no reason that I could figure.

Are you talking about the scenarios?

Well, sometimes I don't even get to the original scenarios. It likes to crash at the main menu, or just randomly during the game. Usually it goes to a black screen, although I've had a frozen game screen with a higher level of gamma than usual. Or it crashes at the last step as he mentioned (Loading Globals)

What's weird is it used to just CTD, and now I don't even get that courtesy. I usually crash within the first 2 or 3 minutes and forced to do a full restart.

I renamed avi, I reinstalled a few times. I don't really know why it started, since I updated to 1.05 after the problem hit. (I figured I'd check for any possible fixes)

If that's not what you mean by scenarios, sorry... I'm not really sure what you were asking =)

Sorry I was asking if it was user made scenarios from the scenario editor, you were having trouble with.

What mods do you have installed?

Have you ever had a mod installed?

Also what version number does it give you on the screen?

Okay here are some things you should try in order.
1) Rename the AVI folder, you have done that, just remember to do it everytime you reistall.
2) Try a different resolution, you can change that in the HOI settings program.
3) check for a new update on your video and monitor driver. (what is the make and model of your card BTW and what is the driver version?)
4) turn down video acceleration down to none and then if that works bump it up a notch at a time until it goes back to crashing.
5) Change the refresh rate.
