HOI minimizes after startup

First the problem: Everytime I start HOI it minimizes and will not show the initial screen. This occurs whether I let the intro finish or not.

Details: Running on XP with InVidia geForce 5200 (driver version 5.2.1.6). Patched to 1.05. Tried reinstall and patch application. Resolution at 1280x1024-16. Also tried 1024x786 16 and 32 bit. Tried with Music on and off.

Help . . . please.

First thing to try is renaming the AVI folder to AVI_back.
Color depth at 16BIT. resolution at 1024x768 for both game and desktop.
Get it to work this way first then change resolution to suit yourself.
