HOI plat freezing 100% during initialization.

hi, bought HOI plat yesterday - installs fine, plays the intro movie fine... but then during the initialization stage the game constantly locks up 100% of the time.

occasionally after bringing up task manager ( i use XP ) when i click back on taskbar for HOI i find the front end menu has loaded... but the game is still locked up frozen...

I have tried shutting down my virus protections... all other task like MSN etc with no result.. I presume that HOI plat has the latest patch..

anyone know anybackground applications that could cause this?? ( i know there was an issue with bink movie player according to manual ) but i cannot see that running on my system and it crashes after the intro movie

Okay let's try some standard things.
1) Rename the AVI folder to AVI_back
2) Set the color depth to 16BIT
3) Turn off everything in the background like E-mail/ICQ/Messenger, Virus protection and everything in the system tray beside the clock.
4) Update your Windows, update your Video card drivers and audio card drivers. Then repeat steps 1-3.


The problem with the bink player does not have to do with the opening videos, it is more a memory coruption problem which can manifest anytime.
