Has anyone playing HoI2(Doomsday+Arma) experienced a weird sort of flickering that won't go away even in full screen mode?

I have noticed that the text windows when you roll over units appearing faster since I upgraded to Windows 7, and sometimes this might cause what could appear as flickering if you're moving the mouse around enough. That's a wild guess though.

I don't have the flickering, but the game crashes about half way through loading once options are chosen. This happens regardless of the compatibility chosen. Any help would be appreciated.
Make sure that you don't have any instant messanging/torrent software running in the background that might be stealing the focus of the game.
In Windows 7 i recommend the following.
1. Turn off UAC. Google the term to find pages that explain how to do this.
2. Never install the game in the C:\Program Files location. Always install in a location like C:\Games\HOI2Arma
Try a reinstall using the above.
