Can someone make a patch for this to work with Vista?

Modder or Paradox dont matter as of now I cant run any HoI2 with Vista. I know its not supported but it couldnt be that much to make it work with Vista could it?

UAC is vista's User Account Control - forces you to run things like a simple user without administrative rights. You could try to have a look here as for how to disable UAC.

HOI2 works just fine in Vista.

There must be something technical that is causing the application to crash.

I need to know what version of HOI2 you are trying to install and from what medium you are installing it from (Gamersgate, CD, Steam...)

I also need a DXDiag from your machines.

To run a DXDiag go into the start menu... choose run... then type in DXDiag in the text box.

In the window that pops up ... click on the save all information button. Save the results to a text file on your desktop.

Post the contents of the text file here.

Regardless of the User Account Control never had any problems with Vista. Armageddon works well on all my machines using that OS

HoI2 ran swell on my Vista system. Now I have Windows 7 and Doomsday runs ok but Armageddon crashes to desktop when I try to start a campaign (the game loads normally but when I pick a country and scenario game CTD).

Same here on any flavor of HOI2. Game simply does not run. I'm thinking it's a Vista 64 problem. The game crashes to desktop right at the "Initializing Globals" message on load.

It is NOT a Vista problem.

I have Vista 64 bit and I have never had any problems with games. I can play really old games like C&C RA1 and Diablo 2 or new games like Assassins Creed and Overlord 2. If you do as coreymas says he or someone else can help you.

I didn't see how updating drivers would help a 5 year-old game run (and one that used to run on XP and Vista 32 with much older drivers), but I'm willing to try anything.

Alas, no dice. New drivers, same problem.

Where is the game installed? (what directory)

What version of the game are you running (HOI2, HOI2 DD, HOI2Arma) and what patch level do you have on the game?

1. I'm running Doomsday, patched to 1.3a. It is installed to the C:\Paradox Interactive\Doomsday directory.

2. I also have my original disk-installed copy of HOI2 vanilla, also patched to 1.3a (for vanilla HOI2), installed to D:\Paradox Interactive\Hearts Of Iron 2.

UAC is disabled on the computer.
