While the graphics are differnt type with FPS games, HOI 2 is 2D and 2D in a huge way. Boards now have all kinds of acceleration for 3D.

This sounds like a memory issue. Since there is a lot less to keep track of in the start of a campaign, you probably do not have any trouble with the battle scenarios either.

However a Gig should be more than suffcient, unless it is not configured properly.

Well as I said, I don't think adding a gig will help much, but we will see.
 
It means less search/spin time for the HD.

I think the tip to defrag is in the FAQ already.
 
Um to do a better job of that you just need to rename your Music folder to anything else, like Music_old.
 
Either way works, mine just keeps everything together. However if you never intend to use it again then you can just delete it.
 
The problem is most people don't get the slow down, which suggests a hardware problem.

There are so many variables involved like combinations of MB/processor/bus/memory/Graphics and sound cards, then you have all the different drivers for each of those, and other software being run ...
So much so that I have never figured out why some people get this slow down thing.
 
Requirements are for minimum gameplay, not extrodinary game play.
