The United Kingdom can be intimidating for new players. They are everywhere, fight everyone, so much to do in so little time it can really be chaotic! But if you patience and a plan they can be extremely powerful and enjoyable. This AAR will provide you with a set-up that will smash the Axis and achieve all your goals! ;)

My initial focus in research is in my naval units, however I am researching armor techs from the get go. I dont trade any resources (supplies when forced) and trade only with the USA (Soviets too if I need to sell supplies). I try to begin stockpiling for the war. In production, I build more convoys, various air units and begin to upgrade my Militia to Infanty.

FIRST STEPS

I begin to re-form my fleets, I start with the outlying areas and save the Med and Home Isles for last. I make small fleets and task forces generally SS x 2, CL x 1 / DD x 2, BC x 1 / CL x 2 / DD x 2 or CV/CVL x 2 / CL x 4. The above picture is misleading I mis-seperated the units.
 
EAST AFRICA

I spend a little more effort in East Africa and North Africa then most. That is because I want to steamroll it right from the outset of war and never have to look at it again. Above you will see I have 15 INF x 3 Divisions under my East Africa HQ. In addition in the upcoming months I will increase the above port as well as build 1 additional level of infrastructure in much of my African territory. Also I will keep my basing and supply techs up to date. I want no issues in Africa with supply.
 
MID 1936

I like to research my units equally (ie. finish all 1938 techs, build unit etc...). As I complete the 1936 (1938 showing) techs for CV, BB, CA & CL's I will place 1 of each in the queue. I will not build any DD or SS's. I will leave that up to you along with the rest or your Naval builds, I will however have the techs up to date or close.

I send 10 INF x 3 divisions to the Middle East. Eventually I build a level 2 airbase near the border of Libya and shortly after the War starts you will 5 divisions of ARM / MOTx2 / SPART to send to North Africa, this effectively will spell the end of Italy in Africa or the Middle East for the duration of the game. At this time I also begin sending larger fleets to the Med. Typically (CV x 2 / CL x 6) or BB x 2 / CA x 2 / CL x 2 / DD x 2.
 
LATE 1936

I begin forming Fleets for the Home Isles. Large ones (like in the Med) and smaller DD x 3 Taskforces. In the end I will have some un-attached ships for you to deploy as you like.

I start building fortifications and upgrades for East Africa, Malta and Gibralter. In addition I build level 2 Radar in each Southern port of England.
 
1937

Finally after raising threat on Germany for the whole game, I get my first better Law to fire;

I build 4 Artillery brigades. I will send 2 x INF x 3 / ART x 1 to each Gibralter & Malta. They can always be replaced later with Garrison units if you choose.

When I can I keep putting Air units in the queue.

One sort of "Bug" in HOI3 is that when you unlock CAS, everyone and their Grandmother wants PL's from you! Sell to everyone, its easy cash...
 
THE REMAINDER

For the rest of the game up to August 25, 1939 (where I stop) it was pretty much uneventful, I continue my builds and research etc... I go off the grid a bit and dabble on January 1st, 1939 and begin influencing Romania, Yugoslavia & Turkey. Turkey mostly just for fun (however if serious you should have raised threat on the Soviet Union from the beginning) but Romania and Yugoslavia to keep them away from the Axis. Don't actually invite them or they will go to war with Germany at the first opportunity, but rather keep them neutral and in the Allied corner. Force Germany to DOW them. I dont worry about the Leadership expenditure, the UK has more than enough to do things like this.
 
OUTLOOK

Ship techs are pretty well up to date and most practicals have been started. Your about to have 6 Strat bombers (as of Sept 1939) and more air units are in production. The Middle East and East Africa you can win quickly, then re-distribute the units as you see fit. Asia you have time to re-inforce, as you have 5 Divisions in Singapore and India currently. Your secure pretty much everywhere and in a position to harass the Axis at your leisure. I often begin building Mtn troops to take back Norway when it is invaded or after it falls.

CONCLUSION

If you poke around the saved game file I think you will see this is an all around solid build from which you can do pretty much anything. You have alot of time (Europe 6-12 months, Asia 12-18 months) to re-organize, prepare, produce etc.. to your likings. I hope you find this AAR helpful. ;)

An Axis minor could be a good too for newbies like me hahaha, but thanks I reallly find them useful
