HOL2 Armageddon games slows and pauses

After a few years the game slows down. I can't play the game because it's so annoying. Does anyone know of a patch that will fix the problem?

What patch version are you running?

There is an unavoidable slowdown associated with higher global Division numbers as time goes on... but there are also a couple of avoidable causes of slowdown.

Ghost Fleets (fleets with no ships in them) can multiply into the thousands in early patch versions, and taking Military Control of your allies aggrevates this problem.

I urge you to update to v1.2 (which has anti-ghost-fleet-lag coded into it), and perhaps to the v1.3 patch (which is still in BETA). Your current game won't be speeded up by it very much, though... to get full value from the patch you would have to start a new game.

Okay, I tried to download patch 1.2 and 1.3. I saved them under program file paradox interactive-armageddon. I don't think I did it right because it is still show the patch as version 1.1. on the game page. What file folder do I need to save the patch in?

What you downloaded was the INSTALLER. Did you un-pack and run it? What type of file was it... a RAR file?

EDIT: I just DL'd it to take a look at it. Yes, it is a WinRAR archive file. You need to un-pack it with WinRAR, then execute it. THAT will install it. Make sure it goes to the proper folder... probably C:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Armageddon (or ...\Doomsday\Armageddon, depending on the details of your install). Are you running under Windows XP?

I think I unpacked it correctly it's on my desktop with a picture of a monitor and a disk. From there I ran it. Do I need to intsall into a specific file like ai, avi, config? Yes. windows XP.
