I'm gonna post about something that has been bothering me, but I've always been far too lazy to post. How is the game going to handle the Holy Roman Empire. EU2's handling was... weak at best. During this period, the Empire was still... well... an Empire, and Austria really wasn't important yet. Can you get elected it and, if so, what kind of powers would you hold? Later I'll probably post this to the other -new- CK forum too because I'll actually get an official response :). Any comments?

It certainly will be interesting to see how the HRE is handled. During the CK period the HRE was more important than during EU and cannot be glossed over, as it was in EU2, without being a detriment to the game.

Perhaps a set of special rules will bring the HRE to life in CK. :)

AFAIK, the Empire wasn't that different from other feudal states at the time (particularly France), so I hope as Holy Roman Emperor I will have at least the power to strip Henry the Lion off his lands, fight the Papacy, and burn some Italian city-states, like in RL history...

EUII really didn't handle the HRE with the finesse it deserved. Any scenario in CK will have to take into account the spiritual power the papacy had over the HRE, but also allow the HRE to flex its temporal power in the face of the Pope! it will take some fine tuning of the gamplay to recreate that tension.:)

Personally i hope they include towards the end of the period the rise of the urban merchant class and the destabilisation that created within the social fabric of the Empire.
