Great mod. Problem is one month into the game, it goes incredibly slow -- like really bad lag. I did the fix suggested in another threat to change Hawaii to Pearl Harbor and I still have this problem.

Btw, I run Doomsday just fine.

Anything, I can do?

Hi,

The Hawaii fix made a giant difference in all of my tests. So if it didn't do anything for you I'm somewhat suspicious that you didn't apply it correctly. So you might want to recheck that very carefully. If you are running a lower end system you can also improve performance by eliminating the sprite files and exclusively using counters. I'm not on my gaming machine so I can't describe the exact files to remove right now. Godd luck.

As it did to mine as well, during several verification runs...

Can someone kindly explain what this Hawaii fix is for people who have not come across the thread mentioning it?

Open the mod-CORE2\ai\usa_1936.ai file in notepad, and change the following line:
683 # Hawaii into 663 # Pearl Harbor

This results in a huge increase in game speed for all nations other than the USA. Remarkably it's a Vanilla bug, but DD itself isn't suffering from it. CORE on the other hand is...

I'd add (for completeness sake) that this error is also present in the other "scenario year" (eg 1939, 1941) USA AI files, so you may want to correct them as well. Just to clarify - the line you are correcting is in the Naval AI section down at the bottom of the file.

I also did the Hawaii fix and my games are also horribly slow when I play certain countries. I can play, for example, Czechoslovakia and Japan. I can't, however, play Germany, Poland, Canada, and Argentina.

Also, I'm playing CORE for Doomsday.

I don't have any speed problems ... but then I have a dual core 4800+ machine with 2Gig of DDR2 ram (4200 ram I think)

How about the USA? How much memory do you have?

2GB of RAM; I only bought this computer a few months ago. This problem does not appear in regular DD, though.
Should be more than enough. tHe Hawaii issue is a regular DD bug which doesn't manifest itself in DD, while it does in CORE. In all our test runs this turned out to be the issue for the february slowdown.
As the bug is in the USA AI files, could you try playing a USA game and let me know whether it makes any difference? The alternative is to go over your AI files...

I already did the AI file patch, and I've played as the USA until 1941 in a previous game with no major crap-ups.
That does support the fact that the problem is related to an AI-controlled USA. Did you patch all the US AI files, or just the 1936 one?
