During the Crusades (and other medieval wars) it was usual to take your defeated oppponents as hostage instead of killing them. Ransom money was one of the major income sources for the crusader states. Will this be represented in the game?

It should be, the ransoms for kings are enough to make a sizable difference. 150,000 marks were paid for Richard I's ransom.

There's also the question of taking female heiresses hostage and forcibly marrying them.

uhm maybe angry mongols are easier to defeat that happy mongols :D

Yes. I think it has to be

behind and ..for exampel have a neutral country between and cant get home...you demand your former enemy for money and his soldier

I think there should be a large chance to capture some of the enemy leaders if you win a battle. For example, when Prince Bohemond of Antioch were captured, he was bought free for 100.000 bezants. As a comparison, the Templars bought Cyprus from Richard Lionheart for the same amount. And if you read the chronicles of the crusade, it looks like half the leaders on both sides spent some years in a dungeon while waiting to be ransomed...
