In all my playtime with survivng mars, 574 hours in total, i have just experienced my 1st ever crash of the game after installing hotfix 3. I had to post this because im normally a very quiet player but this crash has pushed my frustration to the max, the crash occured whilst saving my game on the aroung 200 sol mark, it was a completely new game that was started after bb was released, not only did it crash during the save like i just commented it also completely removed the save, upon restarting the game all i get is a black grey out marker in the main menu where you used to be able to load your saves. Completely gone. just wanted to give a heads up so hopefully no one else experiences this. I am running windows 10, intel i7 processor, 32 gigs of ram, geforce 1080ti graphics card, and all drivers are current. Have also posted this to the steam discussion whereby i was also advised to post here.

If there is one, could you attach the .crash file from the \appdata\Roaming\Surviving Mars\crashes\ folder, please?

@soton69 Could you check the other folders in the surviving mars directory for any auto-saves or ones that might have numbers in brackets? e.g. (1) or (2)

Thanks, that is a larger crash dump, I guess you have no saves that are named autosave anywhere?

Ive looked all through the folders and can not find any saves, although im not that great with folders and sub folders etc, so its possible that i may have missed them., But i have looked over and over. sorry

Saves games should be here:
C:\Users\{UserName}\AppData\Roaming\Surviving Mars\{large number}\

Did you find that folder? Note that To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.

Hopefully these are what you need, they were the only files in the large number folder in the location you kindly shared. There was 1 more folder in there, a steam autosave one which i did not include here, if you need that one also then please let me know. Many thanks

@soton69 Could you include the steam autosave? The account files sadly are of no use. Additionally, are you able to use these saves to get your save game back?

Here is the steam save, have just reloaded the game and sadly the load button for saves is still blacked out, as per my 1st post screenshot.

Thank you for the attachment, sadly that file won't help us to try and reproduce this.

Did steam backup your saves to the cloud or did you disable that feature?

The steam cloud save was fully enabled, i sometimes have to use the spare computer so that feature was always active. That was the only steam save that i had and so far i have had no joy in recovering it.

This page will let you see all the save games for each of the games you own, from there you can download the saves.

Just had a look and there is nothing there apart from the new game that i just started today. Its strange as its completely gone. I was playing as the brazil sponsor and i always name my saves according to who i am playing. Fingers crossed it wont happen again.

@soton69 That is disappointing, I do hope it doesn't happen again. Thank you for being so patient while we figured out a way to recover the save. The only other option is probably to try and use a file recovery tool
