Summary

House Fued is one-sided: My house doesn't appear to be in a feud.

Description

I had an enemy house declare a feud on my house just because I was at war with them.(I assume. Never had any other negative interactions with the house.) Thereafter, their house showed a modifier that they were feuding with my house, but my house showed no such modifier. As a result, their house, which only had like 6 adult members, managed to kill off roughly 4 members of my house per year, while I was limited to targeting one of them at a time, and the rest of my house, which should have been very capable, did absolutely nothing and just sat around waiting to die. It basically ruined my ironman game that was otherwise going well.

This is pretty game breaking and really should be fixed. I shouldn't have to disable the entirety of the friends & foes event pack just to be able to avoid the broken feud mechanics. Can we please get a fix for this? It's been known for like 8 months now, hasn't it?

Steps to reproduce

It is when an enemy declares a feud on your house. I don't know how to trigger that event.

Hello ! Thank you for the report. It unfortunately wasn't clear what the root of this issue was. Could you please provide the save file where you encountered this issue? Thanks for your help and have a nice day!

Sorry, I didn't see this response right away. I've attached the save file to this reply. My house is having a feud with House Munso, which is the house of the king of Sweden. If you click on my house, it says nothing about the feud on the house page. If you click on current situations, it says nothing about the feud. The only way you know there is even a feud is if you look at THEIR house page.

Honestly, the house feud mechanics have been so buggy ever since launch, I feel like someone needs to go in and rewrite their scripts almost in entirety. This isn't something new or unusual. Almost every feud that triggers ends up being very buggy in one way or another. An idea for a temporary fix in the meantime is to maybe give the house head a decision that they can pursue, of "Reconcile with rival house", in order to maybe pay money and try to befriend the rival house head or something to try to end the feud. Adding this opt-in line of decision/events would allow someone to play the game and enjoy the DLC without trapping them in a buggy murderfest where only the enemy knows they're fighting.

This is the second time this bug has basically caused me to stop playing the game, despite having just bought Tours & Tournaments DLC. I stopped playing before when this happened in another save, when I got the last set of DLC. But at that time, I looked on the forums and found that other people had already reported this problem, so I assumed it would get fixed by the time the next major DLC came out. Despite being a huge paradox fan, as you can see from my badges, I probably won't buy any other paradox titles until this gets fixed. It's a game-breaking problem and in a game where achievements are disabled without ironman on, it seriously impacts the overall user experience.

Thank you for looking into this! :)

In the above save, my heir is now 1st in line to inherit the kingdom of sweden, due to my grandson having recently taken over the kingdom after I had the old king murdered. Unfortunately, my grandson is house Munso, so I'd have to go kinslayer to have my heir inherit. I haven't done so because I'm afraid if I allowed my heir to inherit and move to another court, he'd likely get murdered in the family feud he doesn't know he's a part of. That has been the pattern so far. Important family members that are in any courts other than my own are the most likely to get murdered. None of their family gets murdered unless I do it personally, despite me having several children and family that are intrigue-focused.
