Gestalt robots have drone storage with 400 housing and 300 amenities
Hiveminds have hive warren with 300 housing and 500 amenities
Ordinary empires have luxury residencies with WHOPPING 3000 housing and 2500 amenities

What in the cybrex is this? A building with no jobs not only is considerably better than its analogs, but is better than a specialized holo-theatre building which needs jobs and consumer goods

In today's patch the gestalt versions will get their lost 0 added back to the end.

Longer term I expect there will be some balance changes around amenities, but at least for now having a simple building means you're not borked in the early game.

Okay, but how come that the cheap residences have more amenities than specialized holo-theatres? Like why I need to spend pops and consumer goods on entertainer jobs, if I can just have a building that is better and doesn't need those?

Right now there basically is no reason. There's better ways to get unity and until your planet gets huge a single luxury residence can provide all your amenity needs. I'm sure that will get rebalanced in future, ideally with these buildings having different benefits/costs that make it more of a decision.

Actually they are not, there is an error in the tooltip of all the buildings with Amenities worker. The Holo theatre actually gives you +1250 amenities every 100 worker, meaning that holo theatre and luxury houses both generate 2500 amenities, with the difference that holo theatre also gives you unity.
You can check the difference in amenities by disabling/enabling the building (and accounting the fact that 100 civilians gives you 50 amenities).
