How customisable do you think our empires should be?

I imagine we'll be able to chose the name of our species, our empire name and map colour? What about part way through the game where our empire goes through a dramatic change for whatever reason like the entire empire collapses due to rebellion or a major government change? Those would be a valid reasons for a mid-game empire/government name & map colour change.

For example I may want to change the name of my empire from "Galactic Empire" to "Imperial Remnant" so it makes sense with the current situation

How much customisation of this type of stuff do you think we'll actually have?

Should have something like the Ruler Designer to get the portraits and the name. Also should get to choose start location, traits.

Hardman should give you a random set up though. IRL you don't get to choose that stuff.

Yeah, I can imagine them taking elements like this (and maybe the nation designer from EU4?) and adapting them for Stellaris

Then all the way down the hooves or what ever nature decided to give them for feet, maybe gas!
