How do I find anything in a save file, without going line by line? How do I find a particular province or charachter? I want to change the culture of three of my provinces from Arab to Portugese. Can I change a charachter from Arab to Portugese? I wonder how his portait would be affected?

If you use an editor or normal notepad, there is always a "search" option you can use, if you search for a province or country, always use the province id like "C807" or "lith". I´m using german versions so I can´t tell you how this option looks like in english, but it should be an option in the top of the editor. You will find the proper province names in the config file subdirectory province_names,. If you search for a dynasty, look into the db folder and look which id your dynasty has. There is no big problem changing cultures or religions, as long as you type the culture correctly ;) .

C807 would be the title Count of "Province 807". To find the province search for 807 or "id = 807", where the spaces are important. To find members of your court search for "tag = ytag", where ytag is your tag. You still need to know some details like name and traits if you want to identify a specific person, though.
The tag search will also bring you to your country definition (laws, slider settings ...) eventually, but if you are looking for that it is best to start from the end of the file.

EDIT: This is kind-of redundant now. Well, you shouldn't get distracted while answering. :eek:o

Ooops, sorry if I was so unclear about it. I have already edited a lot but it seems my ability to explain it is messed up ;) . If you don´t believe me, look into my AAR (which I would recommend anyway :D ).

Thanks! :) But we better leave it at that, before this is considered spamming. ;)
