I kinda want to try a integrated empire with like Mali that has its capital in Brazil in a bizarre historical what if, an empire divided by a sea, directly controlled rather than a colonial subject. Is it possible? I tried the old falklands trick but it isn't working.

you have to change your capital to an "in-between" province that is part of both continents. I believe the main two are Bermuda and the Canary Isles (I'm not 100% sure about the Canary Isles)

Did you forget a "not" there? Every province is just part of one continent.
The intermediate capital must not be on your main continent and not on the continent to which you want to move, because otherwise you won't be able to fulfill the condition that your capital is your only stated province on its continent and that it does not border any of your other provinces.

Falklands is in South America, so you can't use it to move your capital to a colonial region in south america, because both the falklands and the new capital will be stated, so the Falklands can't be your only stated province on its continent. But you can move from the Falklands to a colonial region in North America if you don't own any other stated provinces in south America(so you must not own South Georgia island which is in the same state as the Falklands)
