Hi! I started a game yesterday and everything went fine, and then one or more of the mods updated, and now I get errors when loading the game. I don't want to continue the game for 5 more hours only to have it critically fail and me be unable to continue. So is there a way to turn off mod updating until you complete a game? I did try loading the older version of the mod that I was told was conflicting, but that actually gave me more errors.

One more thing, is there a way to go back to the main menu once you are in the second game menu? I wanted to exit the game to the main menu to modify the mods without having to reload the game entirely but didn't see a way. Maybe I missed it?

There's not really a way of preventing updates for Steam mods AFAIK. If you reach out to the devs they might have the previous version and might share it with you (maybe they even have a github). The only thing you can do on your end is to sub to a mod, find it in the Steam workshop mods folder for the game, then copy it to the game's "normal" mod folder where you would manually add mods (can be a bit different from game to game, but usually in your documents library folder - haven't manually added mods for AOW4 myself yet). You can also use this method to backup your mods before a major game patch, so that you can roll back to the previous patch version of the game and keep playing with your favorite mods (which might not work with the new patch or not all get updated quickly after the patch hits).
