I was playing on the island of Leng, which is almost as far south and away from the White Walkers as you can get with a humid climate, yet they spawned above me and preceded to go to war against me. I did receive an event warning of the White Walkers taking the Wall, and some characters near me wanted me to join their war efforts, but I'm still confused how the White Walkers would spawn in such a humid faraway location when they haven't even taken over anything else, excluding the Wall.

At first I was thinking maybe the White Walkers somehow traveled down the sea (hence, the recent change to "the seas can now freeze over", so maybe coastal territories are affected, but that doesn't explain why in that 2nd picture there's an isolated land pocket of White Walkers to the far east.

Is all this working as intended, or maybe I don't understand how the White Walkers work. Anyways, I think the RNG gods hated me this game.

Thats the five forts, basically the eastern version of the wall, while there is no canon information saying it keeps out white walkers the similarity are fairly obvious. from the mods description of there unique buildings:
No discussion of Yi Ti would be complete without a mention of the Five Forts, a line of hulking ancient citadels that stand along the far northeastern frontiers of the Golden Empire of Yi Ti, between the Bleeding Sea and the Mountains of the Morn. The Five Forts are very old, older than the Golden Empire itself: some claim they were raised by the Pearl Emperor during the morning of the Great Empire to keep the Lion of Night and his demons from the realms of men … and indeed, there is something godlike, or demonic, about the monstrous size of the forts, for each of the five is large enough to house ten thousand men, and their massive walls stand almost a thousand feet high.\n\nCertain scholars from the west have suggested Valyrian involvement in the construction of the Five Forts, for the great walls are single slabs of fused black stone that resemble certain Valyrian citadels in the west … but this seems unlikely, for the Forts predate the Freehold’s rise, and there is no record of any dragonlords ever coming so far east. Thus the Five Forts must remain a mystery. They still stand today, unmarked by time, guarding the marches of the Golden Empire against raiders out of the Grey Waste
