How do you install custom country flags etc?

Been looking at this forum for awhile and the custom country flags seem very cool. I also downloaded an updated NATO symbol system and production graphic from a HOI mod website. It all looks extremely cool, now I'm wondering how to install them. Haven't seen instructions on that anywhere. Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

to install the shields and flag, just copy them in the hearts of iron/gfx/map/shields (or flags) folder.

AN EXAMPLE:

OK, this image goes to:
GFX\map\shields - then if you want to use it for, say Slovakia, you rename it to shield_SLO.bmp (SLO - country tag, hope you know what these are
- full list of tags: Tags and their names

This one goes to:
GFX\map\flags - then if you want to use it for, say Slovakia, you rename it to flag_SLO.bmp

I think I understand now. A couple of follow-up questions...Do you usually delete the old flag file first? Do you need to save the old file to disk first our can you just re-install from the HOI disk if you need to?

Always deleted But if you want to keep the old flag and get it back if you don't like the new one, it's better to backup... You cannot get the original flag back(if you haven't backed up) without reinstalling HoI
