Of course this is just a hypothetical question ATM, but supposing that (say to pay for a new dedicated server or something) Paradox were to do so in the future, how much would you want to pay per month for it?

1. Nothing
2. £5 / month
3. £10 / month
4. £15 / month
5. £20 / month or more

(It would be great if someone could pollify this).

Personally I would be prepared to pay £5 a month for it, not sure about any more though

24 dedicated player on a stable server? Hmm I would pay something like 5-15 pounds prolly.

At the moment we are seeing a renaissance in MP with all the latest beta changes Johan is making. Start charging for something like this on a subscription as opposed to one off basis and I fear you would kill the game off in a pretty short timespan.

I would pay if it could be fixed so that the game would run without all the IP and firewall problems. For those of us who have connections that don't seem to like this one particular game.:D Which is sad cause it is my favorite game to play.:( If you need me I'll just be over in the corner crying.

Sadly im poor as a rat, but if i could i would pay.
And i agree with Wyvern on this. If Paradox would begin charging for MP, it would decline very fast.

I love MP but I refuse to pay for a game that I have already bought twice (gotta have a copy for laptop also :) ).

I own no games that make me pay to play online.

Juice

I own a few games that make me pay to play them, so i dont play them and never have :) really doesnt seem worth it..... ( i think its just dumb that you buy a game for $40 and then they make you pay $12 a month just to play it! not worth it at all......)

Well they did the same thing to Sweden. Same promises, but it took longer than they thought, 1,5 years actually. Thats a long wait for a new connection.

Indeed, been reading it from the BT website, could be as much as 90% coverage by the end of the year. Here's the article:

Interesting article PJL, though I now take anything BT says about broadband with a small sea of salt. I also see there's one of those quotes you get from privatised ex-public monopolies (I used to work for one) that has a phrase missing. In this case:

The company also revealed that wholesale prices will be cut from May 1.
... as demanded by OFTEL.

Still it's a lot better than it used to be.

I hate BT with a passion only slightly less than Telewest Communications with whom I had a stand off with in their head quaters car park in Dudley some years back. Anyway, the point is that I'd happily run an urban guerilla 'falling down' style campaign against them given the opportunity.

Since I have got BT open world it has gone down once in 1 year for about 1 hour and has consistently provided a very good service indeed. Even though others are offering lower priced deals I am too scared to change because its just so stable. I dont have a good computer compared to many on the forum so I can only summarize that I make a good host because of my connection. I just cant fault them even if they are currently threatening to cut me off this coming Tuesday. (I'll pay I just like to imagine that I am making them sweat).

Now, BT Cellnet, thats different kettle of fish. I actually bombarded their head of corporate affairs, Director, Investor Relations VP and Director of Customer relations with faxes every hour on the hour pretending to be the editor of a telecomms magazine who would be running a front page article about how they won the worlds worst customer service in the world.

All I actuallly wanted was my £5, in the end they paid me off with £200 after 3 faxes.

Ah yes, the classic privatised British company, who are smart enough to make changes to keep shareholders happy, but not smart enough to make changes at the same time to keep customers happy. I definitely used to work for one of those.

Ahh, so that's why they changed their name to O2!!
