How the Heck did Wallachia b/c a Vassel of Turkey

Playin the IGC as Turkey, and I've been curious as to how exactly Wallachia b/c a vassel of Turkey. Wally is Catholic or Orthodox, forget which, and Turkey is Sunni Muslim. I thought you had to be the same religion to be a vassel due to the fact you must have a RM 1st.

Can Turkey ever annex Wally, assuming I can get the relations from -200 to +190?

As a side note, why is the Genoa, Tuscany, Rhodes and whoever the 4th is, M/A lasting till 1699? (looked at in 1492)

Wallachia starts as a vassal of Turkey in order to capture the essence of their historical relationship. You wouldn't be able to establish such a relationship yourself under the game rules, so it is written in the scenario start.

This is similar to the shipyards in Ragusa & Andalusia - neither owning nation has the naval tech necessary to build one (Naval Tech 16) but they have one anyway.

And of course, the same reasoning applies to the end date of "Eternal Alliance" of Genoa & the Knights et al. - this is to capture the essence of their long-term relationship. In the game, it rarely lasts that long. Once the Turk DoWs the Knights, the rest quickly dishonor the alliance. Or if the alliance actually does go to war, the end date resets to the standard 10 years after the end of hostilities.
