How do I change the color you see in the diplomatic map to black for the country I'm playing? I know there is a file somewhere and I've tried to change the color, but I don't know the settings for black. If black is not possible then something really dark will do.
 
Check THIS SECTION for already-made colorscales, perhaps one of them can be useful for you. It's quite easy to modify them yourself, I believe - open with a simple text editor the file colorscales.csv located in the "Map" folder and try to manipulate the data inside. Black itself isn't possible, but there are ways to make it really, really dark. I believe Duke of Wellington came pretty close in his Golden Horde AAR where, at some point, his country had an almost-black colour on political map. IIRC, he even wrote the colour code for it somewhere in his AAR, and you can look for it through the 141 pages of it...
