Open the port 16000 for TCP (and UDP? I did so). Open GameRanger and click on "Host", set your permissions (PW, etc.). Invite a friend, stranger, etc. If you and the guy are in the room, click on "Start" and GameRanger will make your host a game on all itself. You don't have to do anything until you're in the in-game lobby.
So when I press launch Darkest hour just starts up like usual, with the singleplayer and multiplayer buttons just like usual, Do I have to wait longer or am I doing somthing wrong because I did wait quite the while.
I have the same problem. When I try to host via game ranger it doesn't bring me to the lobby. It gets to the main menu and stops there.
When I host in AoD everything works fine. I don't know what's the problem with DH. Possible solution?
If you did manage to get GameRanger going, the game would run slow. If ur lucky you could manage normal game speed. Ive personally given up on GameRanger even if i can connect to people because of how slow the game-speed gets.
Best thing is to go for direct connection, no limits - only your bandwidth. Open ur ports and pray that you can connect to each other but this also has problems even with ports open. HoI2 has always been like this, and seems like it will stay like this.
