Maybe it's just because I'm sick today, or maybe I have never run into this kind of problem before, but how exactly do you install 1.05c and where do you put everything that is in the .zip file?

Unzip the file into the HOI directory. Be sure and select keep the directory structure/names and select to overwrite the files when prompted.
To unzip the file you can use the program built into WinXP or you can use winzip or simmilar program which you can DL free of charge.
