Urgent report to the minister of defense from the republic's security service. January 1, 1936

The republics security service has recently found out that several of our neighbouring countries might attempt to take control of our sacred lands in the near future. Since our army is outdated our analysts have concluded that planning and arming for war must begin now otherwise the consequences might be dire.

Message to all soldiers who have been selected for the upcoming operation.

I know you are all curious about the nature of your task and I regret that I cannot inform you of it at this time.

Know this though. The future of our homeland might depend on how you perform in the weeks to come. You are going to try to secure the future of our nation for your children and future grandchildren.

God be with us, President of the Republic.

Alberto was on his way to the harbour in the coastal city of Belem in the north of Brazil.
He was old, retired and used to get up before everyone else did and walk to the harbour to try to catch some fish. He had been doing this for the last five years and it had sort of become a personal tradition he would try to uphold until his body could not carry him to the harbour anymore.

When he finnaly reached the docks it was five o'klock in the morning. It was rather warm but the breeze from the sea was nice and chilling. It would have been a perfect day if not for the sight that awaited him when he looked over the water.

A large number of ships were laying just outside the harbour. Landing craft were unloading soldiers on the beach nearby and several ships prepared to enter the harbours dock area.

Alberto had seen soldiers before but theese were not Brazilian soldiers.
He had some interest in flags and heraldy so when he saw the flag flapping back and forth on the ship closest to him he immiedietly knew what nation it belongs to.

But what the hell were they doing here????

We are interrupting this broadcast because of some urgent news.

Some minutes ago the BBC was informed by her majestys government that a large invasion army has landed in Brazil.
Troops have been reported in the cities of Belem and Salvador.

In Belem the Brazilian army has responded quickly and are trying to repel the invaders while salvador has been occupied by foreign troops.

An unconfirmed source claims that the invading army belongs to the Republic of Poland. This has not yet been confirmed by any official channel.

We will return with more news o the latest development as those start to arrive.

Now we continue this mornings radio theatre......

I'm curious to see how well this works, Zawisza; are you giving up Europe entirely, to come back after a few years out of (both) hemispheres? Or just using Brazilian industry to build up your tech?

Nicely-written start...

Actually I'm not entirely certain how to proceed. I could try to "evacuate" all my troops to Brazil and give up Poland. I could then try to strike axis weakpoints in Africa or other places.....

on the other hand sucking up to Germany and join them in Barbarossa should be possible, but then I have to give up Danzig, forcing me to annex one of the Baltic states to get a coastal province so that I can get my Brazilian resources home.

Yeah this is very historical.........
Funny and entertaining though. I am doing an AAR as South Africa and want to get a piece of the south american pie. But, I don't have the WE high enough yet, and I doubt I could handle the size of most of their armies (South Africa only has 30 IC total and only 300 mp).

He he....thats the nice part of being paternal autocrat, you dont have to worry about WE.
I initially planned to invade argentina but their army is actually larger then Brazils and brazil has some nice resources within its borders.

This is Radio Warsaw transmitting.

Today, June 29, 1937 is a historical day.

After five months of fighting the army of the Rzeczpospolita has finally liberated the Brazilian people from their dictatorial leadership and icorporated the Brazilian nation as a part of the second Polish Republic.

and now other news.....

Recently several high members of the german NSDAP have claimed ownership on behalf of germany over our Danzig province with the surounding area. The polish government has not responded to these claims as they are not the official voice of the Reich.
Reichkanzler Hitler has several times promised "eternal pece" between our nations.

The brazilian city of Belem is hearby renamed to Józefgrad in honor of marshall Pilsudski.

- Antoni! wait, wait for me...
Antoni recognized the voice, It was Piotr, one of the soldiers who had accompanied him in the landing craft during the initiall attack on Belem.
He was a nice guy and a skilled soldier but sometimes he was a little annoying.
- Thank god I found you Antoni, I've just heard that they are shipping us back to Poland next week, I've seen the list, we are going on the same transport.
- Thats nice, I miss good old Poland, I've had enough of this hot godforsaken place. I have wanted to go home ever since I almost got blown to bits by those damn Brazilians when they took back Belem.
- You meen Józefgrad, haven't you heard, thay have renamed the place. Where the hell is the world heading when places in South America have polish names....eh??
The man stardet loughing.

- It's not funny, not the least. What the hell are we doing here, invading the Brazilians, Its so stupid that it makes.......
The other man being impacient as he always has been iterupted his friend.
- Here comes the preach again.....I'm sure that our leadets have good reasons for sending us here. Besides, the drinks are plenty here and the girls even plentier so let's go and have fun before we have to freeze our buts off in Poland again.....

The two men headed straight to a bar to celebrate their last days days in Brazil unknowing that they would both die before the next war was over.

AHISTORICAL?

Actually not as far flung as one may think. Poland had a "League for maritime and colonial development" and very actively supported polish emigration to to South America between the wars. This because of lack of work in Poland.
Some ideas to solve the unemployment problem were buying a part of portuguese colonies or Madagaskar. Daydreaming maybe but a factor in polish politics nevertheless.

Speech to the nation from the Royal Palace in Warsaw by the president of the Polish republic.

May 3, 1938

My fellow citizens. The last years have been turbulent and have brought with them grat change.
Our campaign to incorporate Brazil into our glorious nation confounded many of you but now that peace has been restored we, together with the Brazilian people are stronger then ever before.
Our nations future is bright and the years to come will be filled with peace and prosperity.

Today on May 3, the traditional constitution day of our nation, we are declaring the new constitution of the Polish-Brazilian union.
The autonomous region of Brazil has also been given a new flag with will be used for the first time in a few minutes in Rio de Janeiro.

God be with you.....

The minister of security was on his way to a meeting with the rest of the government, he was not looking forward to this meeting becouse of the bad news he was about to deliver.

When he entered the room he noticed that the rest of the ministers were already present, waiting for him.

- I'm not going to waste any time gentlemen, we begin this meeting with a debriefing by the minister of security, Witold Grabowski.
Prime minister Slawnoj-Sklodowski sat down in his chair after saying those words and the rest of the present ministers turned their heads towards him.

Grabowski quickly went towards his place at one side of the large oak table and put down a large number of papers on it. He took up some of them and starting to hand them out to the others.

- This is a copy of a report we recieved two weeks ago from one of our undercover operatives in Gdansk.
It confirmes our earlier suspitions that the Germans might attempt a hostile takeover of our Province.
The nazi party in Gdansk has been equiping the german population there with guns and grenades for the last three months.
It is possible that those weapons will be used to create chaos in the city before a German invasion.

The rest of the room looked at him in suprise. They all knew that the relations with germany were strained at the time but Invasion! that sounded rather unlikely.

Grabowski continued.
- I know that we have a peace treaty with the Germans but their Anshluss of Austria shows that Hitler is expansionist. I should think that we or the Czeck are next in line for conquest.

- But our military is well trained and motivated. If they try to take Danzig we can invade Germany. The germans will probably be more willing to negotiate of we hang a polish flag on the Brandemburg Tor.
The man who had said this was the Chief of the Airforce, the Airforce witch had been the worlds most modern in the 20s but had since then become totaly obsolete.

The discussion started to drift off with several people talking when the Chief of Army, minister Rydz-Smigly raised his voice.
- I don't think we can invade Germany but we can defend ourselves. I suggest that we set up a defensive parameter and transfer some of our soldiers to Brazil in case our defense at home would fall, then we can continue our fight from there.

- Then it is settled, we split up our army, try to defend polish lands while securing our position in South America.
The prime minister finnaly spoke, he had listened patiently through the whole meeting.
- But know this. If the Germans invade we will fight them until they are driven back to their lair or until every pole is dead.

Letter from prime minister Neville Chamberlain to prime minister Felicjan Slawnoj-Sklodowski. August 20 1939

We are flattered by the polish peoples wish to enter the alliance with us, the french and the commonwealth countries but regretfully we do not se it fit to accept you into our alliance at this time.
The risk of war with Germany is minimal according to our analysis and therefore Poland has nothing to fear.

Neville Chamberlain

Letter from reichführer Heinrich Himmler to the leader of the Danzig section of NSDAP, Albert Forster. August 27 1939

Invasion of Poland imminent. Prepare to disrut the polish mobilization in the area when the attack begins.

From Adolf Hitler, führer of the third Reich to the polish Government. August 30 1939

The situation of the German population in Danzig in no longer tolerebale. The reich will assume control of the area immidietly, any resistence by the polish population or military will be seen as an act of war.

From foreign minister Beck to minister Ribbentropp. August 30 1939.

The polish state does not seccede its territory becouse of german threats. If the german army attemts any incursions into polish territory the reply will be swift and devastating.

This is BBC news reporting from London. October 15, 1939

Today the last polish units resigned outside the city of Wilno.
After several weeks of heroic defense all polish possesions in europe have been conquered by the nazi invaders.
The polish government, now installed in the temporary capital in Salvador, Brazil has announces that they will continue the battle against the invaders until all polish lands are liberated.

Diary of Antoni Kowal. October 25 1939.

The last weeks have been like hell.
We were defeated so fast that the whole experience feels incredibly surreal.
I just got a letter from one of Piotrs platoone memebers. He is dead, he died during the defence of Lwów.

The english claim to be defenders of democracy and freedom but they just watch us die here.
Our government has asked for entrance into the alliance several times now but they seem to be talking to deaf ears.

I found a propaganda poster drifting with the wing on the street today, It describes the situation rather well, I'll put it in this diary.

warsawpropaganda.txt

Chamberlain indifferent to the germans warmongering in Poland.

(NOTE!!! the above poster was in real life a nazi poster printed in Warsaw after the initial invasion trying to shift the blame onto the brittish. However it did fit the story for this AAR becouse the brittish did not declare war in september 1939. No offense to any brittish people.)

Thanks, I'm glad some one likes it since it is my first ever.

Since I was aware of roughly how many German divisions were placed at my borders before the war I concluded that resistance was futile (star trek, yeahhh) and transported most of my troops to Brazil.

At this time November 8 1939 the polish army in Brazil consists of:

3 Armoured divisions
27 inf divisions (mostly without any extra brigades)
5 cavalery divisions
2 fighter squadrons
3 tactical bomber squadrons
2 cruisers
7 destroyer groups
1 submarine (good old Orzel you get at the start of the game)
8 transport fl.

With these troops I intend to strike any axis weakpoint that might appear in the near future, preferably an Italian one since their land tech is actually lower then mine.

November 11 1939.

Army headquaters in Salvador, office of the Chief of Army Rydz-Smigly.

- Good morning general Szylling, give me todays report.
The chief of army said this inpatiently, he was working all days long and seemed to be under constant stress.

- Well, we managed to destroy most of the small German army that landed in Racife yesterday. We have also taken a few hundred prisoners whitch are being relocated to a prison facility as we speak.

- How the hell could the Germans get an army to Brazil this quickly and under our very noses. What the hell is our navy doing, letting three transport flottilas slip by like this.

- Our fleet was docked at Salvador at the time of the attack. They responded quickly but were unable to find the german transport ships. They are probably halfway back to germany by now. Our security has been tightened though and no more invasions will take us by surprise.

- Good General. Dismissed.

Foreign minister Becks office, Salvador, January 8 th 1940.

- Sir, there is an urgent message for you.
Anna, the young secratary handed the piece of paper to the minister.

- Thank you Anna.

Urgent message to foreign minister Beck from Anthony Eden of her majestys government.

Dear minister Beck.
The United Kingdom and its allies recognize the danger of a rampant germany conquering large parts of Europe.
As a result of this we have today declared war against Germany and their ally Hungary.

Her majystys government hereby wants you to join the alliance togehter with Belgium and the Netherlands who have also pledged for help.

Anthony Eden, London January 8, 1940

February 1st

Army headquarters in Salvador.
Marshall Smigly-Rydz debriefing the prime minister.

- As you can see sir the political situation is starting to shift to our advantage.
The germans have a large army but our alliance is growing and with the help of the british and the french we should defeat germany in no more then one or two years.

Czeckoslovakia is trying to stay out of the war but they will probably soon be dragged in. Italy might join the war soon also but for now we seem to able to defend France.

political_jan1940.txt

-We have also dispatched three armoured divisions and five cavalery divisions to help with the defence. We might also send some aircraft there if we can arrange a transport route through allied airspace from Brazil to Europe.

-I think thats all sir.

-Thank you marshall, I will inform the rest of the ministers of our progress and we shall arrange that the media will get the necesary information.
Good bye.

- Good bye sir.

I know that this has been posted a long time ago but I think I'll answer iit anyway.
My computer was infected with a virus just at the time I was writing this AAR (Zawisza (old) = Neree (new)) and I had to reformate it.
This effectively put an end to my AAR.

I've been thinking about making a similar AAR in the future, but unfortunatly I don't have much sparetime anymore as my studies take a lot of time.
