As the title says: How to update mods in Steam Workshop? I have read quite a few out of date tutorials and would like to read one that works for the current version of the game/launcher.

Whenever I try to update my mod the workshop always creates a new copy without updating the old. I've tried changing the remote_file_id="XXX* manually in the descriptor files but it automatically changes whenever I try to upload in the launcher. Is there a way to force the launcher to use the old ID or any other type of workaround to this issue?

Made a new upload. I read from some of the tutorials that the mod name had to be exactly the same in paradox launcher and steam workshop but the workshop allows for much longer titles of mods. Anyway I changed the name after initial upload but later on changed it back to be exact but nothing worked. Whatever I would try the workshop would always make me a new mod post. So I created a new separate mod with the launcher and uploaded it into the workshop minding the names to be exact and it worked. I can update the new upload as much as I can. If there's anything to take home from this then it's that you should most definitely not mess around having separate names for the mod in paradox launcher and steam workshop. Choose a name and that's final!
