I've played a until around 1650 as England in the GC and I've still got to experience ever having my king as a military leader. Is there something special you must to do to activate him/her as a military leader or do they simply appear in a province just like the normal historical leaders ?

Only some monarchs can go onto the field and actually command their own forces. After all not _every_ monarch went out of his way to lead his men on the battlefield.

Poland for example has only about 4-5 'warrior' monarchs, who can lead armies.

That still doesn't really explain my question. I saw for instance that Henry VII (i think, the monarch you have in 1492 as England) has a siege value of 1. How do I know if he is a warrior monarch ? If he isn't why does he have such excellent stats, when do you ever use those ? If he is how do I use him in the field ?

have you seen this stats in the Leaders file or in the Monarchs file ?

Only monarchs listed in the Leaders file can lead armies on the battle field.

And I think that Henri VII is not a leader ... :)

But since as far as I've seen in the leaders.eng file there are noone with the category monarch and noone that sounds like a english king or queen from the names, so that means England does not even have ONE warrior monarch ??

Had they anyone historicaly? I can not name any English monarch who lead his/hers troops in field during this time. [Cromwell was not a monarch]

That of course might be a good point :) You are probably right there....

So in the case of monarchs with combat/siege values who are not in the leaders file, does that mean they have some effect on ALL of the country's forces? (i.e. does a monarch with a siege capability help all forces in sieging) If they have no effect, are they just listed for potential add-ons/patches?

I guess it's just a mistake with the leaders file in the game.
I don't know about all the kings of England, but I'm sure William III (the dutch one) beat his father in law Jacobus in battle in I think it was 1688, before becoming king of England himself.
He should definitely be in the leader file.
Check with Doomdark whether he already included some in the leader project.
