I got my copy of EU Rome CE today, and eagerly installed it onto my computer. I go to start the game and everything is alright till I am about to get to the menu and nothing happens. The menu does not appear and it just crashes. I am shattered as I have waited for this game for months. I had the same issue with EU3 NA, but not with EU3. I imagine it is some problem with my computer but still I have no idea if I will ever be able to play this game. I know the guy who had this issue with NA never could get it to work and he was more tech savy than me, any ideas?

Make sure you have tried everything in the sticky crash thread in this forum first.

Here is a broadside:
- Are you running vista?
- What resolution were you running in?
- Could you post your dxdiag and settings.txt file?
- If you are running a very high resolution (> 1600x1200) try lowering it and see if that works (although if this is the first time starting, I dont think this is the problem).
- Try running in windowed mode. change fullscreen to no in settings.txt

Similar problem

I'm having a similar problem. My PC exceeds all the requirements, and though it takes awhile and the images that appear while it's loading, are too large for my monitor, it loads and gets the the Main Menu screen, but then nothing. I click on "Options" or "Start Game", nothing. No idea what could be the problem. It's extremely frustrating.

Also, do people from Paradox actually reply to people with questions on this forum or is it just customers trying to help customers?

Look at the poster before you, then look at his title...

No, they never come here. I am just a honorary dev team member who hide in one of the office cupboards during the day....

p.s could you post you dxdiag so I can see your system specification, and your settings.txt and logs/system.log file

i have this weird issue with this game.... when i want to play it, i have to use my old screen ( VGA one ). seems like it won't accept DVI -> HDMI, won't for me atleast. no idea why, but you could try to use a VGA screen if you normally are using DVI -> HDMI. it's annoying, but this was the only way i could get the game to run properly. hope this helps
