Hyperlanes not rendered

Got the new DLC yesterday, created a new playset with all DLC (except Astral Planes, because I don't own it) and no mods.
Started a new game, was fine.

Loaded it up the next day (today) and top GUI bar was missing. Reloaded, top bar appeared but no hyperlanes are visible. Reloaded a few times, still no hyperlanes.
Ships can still travel from star to star though, so it just seems to be rendering them that is the issue.

Started a new game, same problem...

I'm an idiot.

It seems, when the top UI failed to show up when I loaded, I clicked a bunch of icons at the bottom right.
One turns hyperlanes on and off, and I guess it remembers your selection, even when restarting the game and starting a new species and campaign.
To be honest, I never realised that was an option (though I did check hyperlane opacity in settings)...
