I am very curious about the "Unlimited" aspect of this game and really would like to hear from others who enjoy exploring the big vanilla game.
Most CS2 cities are hardly even near the max size of CS1. Why? is it the mods as some say.
Is anyone willing to stick their head above the ditch and rightly brag about the success they have had in vanilla?
I know there are many judging by the screenshot forum on Steam. So please sound off.

The last thread about this topic seemed to get derailed really early with off topic comment. I hope this can carry on the good parts about that thread.

Thanks in advance for your kind replies.

Yes I think so.

I was somwhere at 1.3M before i lost even the last bit of interest in this game.
But the simulation already died somwhere around 500k, after that its just everything fake. The traffic, the flow of goods, the school system, workforce employment... Its doing something here and there, but the system behind it passed out a long time ago. Nothing logical happens anymore. Probably both because of nerfing patches, and the high cim count.

Yes i could have but it was listed as old and did not want to bump my own thread.
I didn't think i needed to be bumped anyway because this thread below was becoming really interesting

That was until it got hi-jacked. I see the OP got banned and you had some posts wiped.
Too bad because it was looking to be a positive discussion until then, so, I thought it could be carried on.
Maybe not though as there seems to be so much dislike for the game that the players who like it just avoid this forum and threads like this.

I only had one post wiped, my answer to the OP's post which got him banned. He was the one derailing his own thread by getting personal for no reason. Actually there wasn't anything off-topic and no hijacking as there is no point discussing population size without discussing the simulation speed and how many hours are needed to achieve such and such numbers.

I don't get how some people get angry when they read Major Kudos 5+ million city was achieved by running the simulation for 5000 hours. Everybody knows about his 2 PC running CS II 24/7, he wrote about it a hundred times, his Steam profile is readable, so what's the problem exactly? It's a fact and it's useful to know for anyone tempted to follow in his steps.

There's no conspiracy here with tens of players hiding their megapoles for the forums because they're afraid from critics of the game. There's only one 5+ million city and that's the one from Major Kudos. So you already know the answer to your question. To update the numbers, you just have to follow Major Kudos thread on Steam which I'm sure you know as he bumped it every week since the release. His last bump was less than an hour ago and his population is now 5,489,041. He also just wrote about his way of playing:

I spend the design time in "pause" laying out hundreds (now thousands) of transit stops only to unleash it in the evening and tweak the results in the morning.

As for the "unlimited aspect of this game", again, keep in mind the maps are not unlimited, so though there's no hard limits on agents, nodes, trees etc. you can't expect a city to grow forever, even in 10 years with the most powerful hardware and tens of thousands hours of play.
