I present to you the Roman Empire as I have made it. The capital is Eastern Mali (though it was Kastamonu briefly, and while it shows the capital of that state as Sikasso, I am again headcanoning that the capital city is actually Djenne.

I am aware the standard of living isn't exceptionally high. But considering the society's extreme matriarchal nature as elaborated in previous posts, I figure those in power (women) are actually much better off.

Reactions:
What happened in China?

How did Russia get that small, and how are they holding on to that Siberian exclave (or the exclave in European Russia? Is their capital in Siberia?)?

I added another 34 years.
Mapmodes in order: Political, Cultural Overview, GDP, Literacy, Population, Religion Overview, Standard of Living, and later on Power Blocs.

Faith Worldbuilding
So in the EU4 section AAR I worldbuilt the reformed version of the Bidaic faith I’d made in CK3. I figure it’s about time I reworked it, partially based on CK3 localization as well as a bit of speculation and the actual dates in which certain events happened in the initial CK3 run.

So the faith says that God is female instead of male and is the same as the Soninke goddess Wagadu and the Egyptian god Wepwawet, and that her enforcer, the Satan, is equivalent to Bida and can take the form of a female snake. The creation story of Adam and Eve is still there… but slightly altered. God gave birth to Eve on Earth, and she was then impregnated by God and gave birth to her husband, Adam. God sent Bida to tell Eve to eat the fruit from a tree which would give her knowledge and allow her to rule over and guide Adam. Despite this, Adam had one as well. They both realized they were naked, and thus they clothed themselves in leaves. Bida then ordered Adam to take off those clothes and serve his wife. Thus explains the matriarchal nature of the faith.

Of course, societies would grow to be dominated by men, against the wishes of God. God would choose Israel as his first chosen, and Ghana as his second, but neither of them fulfilled their roles.

Enter Adja Strongarm. As ruler of the empire of her mother Daurama, she would preach what this faith sees as the truth.

So what is the ideal societal structure of this faith? Women control society, as they carry children to birth and had originally been chosen. They take men as concubines and can, if they choose, take a favorite as their husband. Men shed their clothing and are sold upon adulthood and, once sold to a woman who can care for them, serve that woman. Women can marry on equal grounds, and men under the same woman can marry each other for emotional purposes. Marriage is monogamous despite the faith’s acceptance of free love and multiple male consorts per woman.

There are two kinds of human sacrifices - one for men, and one for women. Men are the lesser offering, presented bare to Bida or another lesser goddess on the altar. Women are the greater offering, presented to Allah on the altar, equally bare.

Transgender people are accepted by the faith. Trans women are expected to fully present as women but may still live as women once blessed by a priestess. Trans men may live as men once blessed by a priestess even if they do not transition or look the part. Nonbinaries are expected to be subservient and go without clothing as a man would but are a rank above men and can own them as well, due to a belief that they combine aspects of both.

A woman may live as a man regardless of their assigned gender at birth if they are sentenced to such a fate as punishment for sin (by any priestess) or crime (by a judge-priestess). This can include excessive greed, wrath, arrogance, or vengefulness, or disbelief in the faith.

Twins and other multiple births are considered holy due to the triplet birth of three goddesses. Two boys born as twins will likely be favored by women in adulthood. Two girls born as twins will have an easier shot at becoming priestesses in adulthood. If a pair of twins includes a boy and a girl, it is assumed that the girl has a right to the boy in adulthood. Multiple births beyond twins essentially function similarly - if there’s multiple girls with at least one boy, the boys are cycled between the girls in adulthood depending on who was born first (for example, with 2 girls and 1 boy born, the older one is given her brother in adulthood).

The faith is polytheistic, interpreting many divine figures from Abrahamic sources through a less Abrahamic-influenced lens. God, referred to as Allah since the faith was reformed by a Hausa dynasty, is the supreme goddess and gave birth to both Eve (the first woman) and the other goddesses (except Ba'al and Fatoumata), who are triplets. Bida the Satan is God’s enforcer and prosecutor, taking the form of a snake rather than a human. Azrael is the name used for the death goddess, who takes souls to the afterlife. Raziel essentially functions as the goddess behind witchcraft. And finally, though it was her mother Adja Strongarm who introduced the faith, Fatoumata the Divine has been deified.

Ba'al is the most powerful goddess in the faith aside from God herself, having been the primary force of evil throughout history. It was her who led men to give into desire for power and overthrow the order that the faith says God meant for. In addition, it is said that she was the one to drag Christianity away from its roots. Thus, the historical sacrifice of the last pope and the usurpation of the Roman Empire are seen as defeats of Ba'al.

As for the afterlife:
- The dead are buried in emotional celebrations.
- Socially recognized women (including those of other faiths) live with the gods (excluding Ba'al, who resides on the earth) and are given leaves to wear as when they were first on Earth.
- Socially recognized men are taken to live with the gods as well but are not given any coverings and remain under the women.
- Those who have been wicked at the time of death are first sent to hell, where they are not given clothing regardless of gender and are tormented until redemption.
- It is said that the world will finally reach a state of utopia when Ba'al is finally fully defeated, made a man spiritually, and made the property of God.

There are a number of holidays notable in the faith, celebrated by the Hebrew calendar due to the heavy Jewish influence on the faith. They are specified with the time of day of the original event (either early morning before sunrise, day, or night after sunset) and the equivalent date in the Hebrew calendar:
- Night of 5/31/879 (3 Sivan) - Adja Strongarm's Birthday - Adja Strongarm is born. This is celebrated as a birthday party, but by everyone, and with a lesser sacrifice to Raziel.
- Night of 8/13/909 (19 Av) - Fatoumata the Divine's Birthday - Fatoumata the Divine is born. This is celebrated as a birthday party, but by everyone, and with a lesser sacrifice to Fatoumata.
- Day of 2/17/926 (26 Sh'vat) - Neo-Bidaic Inspiration Day - Kukiya is conquered by Adja Strongarm, initiating the development of the reformed faith with the help of her daughter Fatoumata, who inspired the project during the occupation. This is celebrated as a party, with a lesser sacrifice to Raziel.
- Day of 10/21/932 (14 Cheshvan) - Neo-Bidaic Foundation Day - Kukiya is visited by Adja Strongarm and Fatoumata, and the new faith is announced. This is celebrated as the most brilliant party of all, with a greater sacrifice to God.
- Day of 10/31/940 (23 Cheshvan) - Adja Strongarm Memorial Day - Adja Strongarm dies. It is said that in her old age she asked to be sacrificed to Azrael but died before it could happen due to the intervention of Ba'al. This is celebrated as a day of mourning, with a lesser sacrifice to Azrael.
- Day of 1/19/961 (23 Tevet) - Imperial Day - The Empire of Mali is declared by Fatoumata the Divine, earning her her godhood. This is celebrated as a party, with a lesser sacrifice to Fatoumata.
- Early morning of 1/6/988 (9 Sh'vat) - Fatoumata the Divine Memorial Day - Fatoumata the Divine dies and ascends to godhood. It is said that she was taken not by Azrael but by God herself, body and all, before sacrificing her mother so that she could... well, return to the afterlife she was sacrificed in. This is celebrated as a day of mourning, with a lesser sacrifice to Fatoumata.
- Early Morning of 12/7/1276 (23 Kislev) - The Catholic crusade for Africa officially fails. This is celebrated as a party, with a lesser sacrifice to Bida.
- Night of 4/2/1292 (8 Nisan) - Papal Day - The final pope, Pope Callistus the Frail, is sacrificed to Bida by Adaeze the Shield of Niani, ending the Catholic papacy. This is celebrated as a party, with a lesser sacrifice to Azrael.
- Early morning of 7/31/1310 (25 Av) - Crowned Day - The Crown of Justinian, most important crown of the Romans, is seized by Basillike I with the Lock. This is celebrated as a party, with a lesser sacrifice to Bida.
- Night of 6/28/1325 (9 Tamuz) - Cross Day - The Spear of Destiny is captured and the Roman Empire declared by Chika the Glorious, usurping Christian hold over both the imperial title and one of the most important Christian artifacts. This is celebrated as a party, with a lesser sacrifice to Bida.

And of course priestesses double as academics.

Thus is the worldbuilding for my bizarre pagan-Abrahamic fusion - but updated!

Alternate Greek Culture Worldbuilding
Worldbuilding my main culture, too. As it got lumped into Greek by Victoria 3, I’ll figure this encompasses the old culture having merged with the distant yet related Byzantine Greek cultures.

First of all, the culture has an intense focus on strategy games and intense music. It is heavily accepting of other cultures, which is why its empire is multicultural. Old Greek and Roman mythology, while obviously not followed, is still prominent in the popular imagination. Metallurgy is quite prominent, as is archery. Law and justice are treasured, and the state is kept very organized.

It is necessary to discuss clothing. As the Neo-Bidaic faith is dominant, clothing is a foreign concept for those living as men. However, women have developed their own style. While accessories from all of its ancestor cultures are present, the basis of clothing is a draped body, most often the color indigo. In contrast to conservative Greek clothing of older times, these drapes at their most modest may extend fully from the shoulders to the knees, or to the mid-thighs, and the arms are exposed. It is also possible for the drapes to be divided in half, one covering the chest and one starting at the hips, leaving the midriff exposed. Alternately, this may be done but with the top drape not present.

Art retains many traditions, drawing from each of its inputs and also containing the capacity for intensely detailed sculptures. It is common for nudity to be present in art regardless of gender role.

Military worldbuilding bc the Vic3 converter is limited and EU4 and Vic3 mechanics in general are limited
I hadn’t deployed any tanks yet, and I’m not gonna pretend I did. With that said, here’s the evolution of each unit I had from CK3, with the understanding that this isn’t reflected in either EU4 mechanics or the EU4-Vic3 converter.

My heavy infantry would just have been phased out with the introduction of firearms, I think. I don’t think they were anything special.

My crossbowmen would have evolved into heavily armed infantry units. Simple enough.

My Nile archers would likely be elite infantry units, lighter than the crossbowmen but highly skilled in their weapons.

My Sahel horsemen would likely still be fast-paced light cavalry, just with firearms.

My Roman cataphracts would still be armored and armed with maces but would also carry powerful firearms, combining speed, range, and shock ability and remaining my most powerful infantry or cavalry units.

Obviously my bombards would now be more modern artillery.

Tourism Worldbuilding
This has been really unclear for a while, so it’s about time I figured it out.

Tourists and diplomats to the Roman Empire in this world are not expected to follow women’s clothing norms, but they are expected to follow men’s clothing norms, and to have at least one woman present. Tourists of other faiths are welcome.

Okay, I kinda have to expand on the gods as seen by this reformed version of the Bidaic faith from early in the CK3 run.

The Void was really the initial state of being, having spawned when the empty universe came into being. It was barely a deity, as it cannot create. It thought, it spoke, and it knew.

God is God, usually referred to as Allah due to Arabic influence, being so powerful that as soon as the mere concept of her existed in the Void she immediately created herself before the Void could forget the Void. Upon her creation she essentially consumed the essence of the Void as a male figure so that the Void’s will essentially lived in her, forming the first instance of plurality in the psychological context. She takes the form of a woman, capable of shifting her anatomy to either be a biological mother or father but always opting to appear vaguely female. Her greatness places her (like all other goddesses) above the need for clothing (though nudity still isn’t a sin), rather than below it like the faith believes men are. Those who see her are universally entranced by her beauty, even more so than the other goddesses. She sometimes incarnates herself as women to experience human life firsthand.

After absorbing the Void, Allah gave birth to the Triplet Goddesses, with the father being the Void’s very presence in her own mind, and granted them all portions of her power. The firstborn and greatest of them is Bida. Bida often shapechanges into a snake, but her true form is really humanoid like that of the other goddesses. She is the messenger, the accuser, and the adversary of evil. Those who are evil may see her in their dreams, which inevitably become nightmares. She works through people, empowering them to overcome their enemies, or destroying their morale. She is a paragon of divine justice.

Azrael is the middle-tier goddess of the Triplet Goddesses. She is Death, who appears to the newly dead to take them to the otherworld. Her role is small, but it is crucial.

Raziel is the youngest and least great of the Triplet Goddesses, but her role is still valuable. Through rituals, clothed in a leaf or in nothing depending on the participants’ willingness, groups of five human women may capture her attention so that she may help them with righteous aims. The first such practices were done for the conquest of Kukiya by Adja Strongarm.

After the birth of the Triplet Goddesses, Allah and the Void then had Eve, then Allah and Eve had Adam… but nonetheless this leaves Ba'al unaddressed.

Ba'al was created from the separation of the Void from her will. As the Void became masculine and with purity, a feminine form arose with malice, and when it saw humanity, she needed to corrupt it. She is naturally a female humanoid form just like the other goddesses, but she can also take the form of a giant mass of tentacles with a massive eye - the eye can see incredibly well, the tentacles can reach far, and it is invisible except in dreams to all but those she has specifically cursed. Those cursed by Ba'al suffer greatly if they do not give into her will and become corrupted. For one to comprehend Ba'al would drive them mad. It is said that Ba'al attempted to corrupt Fatoumata the Divine, and that this curse was why Adja Strongarm died before she could be willingly sacrificed, but that Fatoumata was strong and held on. Ba'al is nothing if not a being of pure torture and corruption.

Finally, the final goddess is Fatoumata the Divine herself. Though the weakest goddess and formerly a mere human, she is nonetheless divine following her death, even above her prophet mother who founded the faith, after thoroughly resisting Ba'al, forming the first truly imperial extension of Allah’s will, and truly being blessed by Allah. Her role is working as an assistant to the Triplet Goddesses, loaning her power to all three of them as additional power.

Language Worldbuilding
The beginnings of work on the evolution of the modern Roman language in the megacampaign by 1899. Pretty rough so far, and I speak none of the original real-world languages and have no formal background in linguistics, so could be absurd. Thanks to Wikipedia and Google Translate for most of the information I based this on.

Hausa to Kru-Nupe-Malinke-Hausa:
  1. Malinke influence - /φ/ becomes /f/, implosive consonants disappear and become voiced, ejective consonants disappear and become tenuis, labialized consonants disappear, r becomes /ɾ/, ɽ becomes /ɾ/, /ʔ/ disappears entirely and is unpronounced, new vocabulary
  2. Nupe influence - more so vocabulary
  3. Kru influence - more so vocabulary
Nubian to Nubian-Burgasan:
  1. Greek influence - /aː/ becomes /a/, /iː/ becomes /i/, /eː/ becomes /e/, /oː/ becomes /o/, new vocabulary
Kru-Nupe-Malinke-Hausa to Nubian-Burgasan-Kru-Nupe-Malinke-Hausa:
  1. Nubian-Burgasan influence - /aː/ becomes /a/, /eː/ becomes /e/, /iː/ becomes /i/, /oː/ becomes /o/, /uː/ becomes /u/, new vocabulary
Nubian-Burgasan-Kru-Nupe-Malinke-Hausa to Modern Roman
  1. Greek influence - Greek alphabet adopted, /d/ becomes /ð/, /v/ added, /ɟ/ and /c/ become /x/, /ɣ/ added, /h/ disappears entirely and is unpronounced, new vocabulary
